Free Cat Adoption (4 Months Old+) at RSPCA Victoria Branches 14/4-17/4

670

Free adoption for adult cats (4 months +) from the RSPCA this weekend. Information from the RSPCA website:

NO FEE FOR FELINES!

Are you able to give a cat a home?

It’s been a busy few months with kitten season meaning lots of cats and kittens available for adoption and there’s always more waiting. During these times many of our cats get overlooked and often have an extended length of stay in our Adoption Centres across Victoria.

From Thursday 14 to Sunday 17 April we will be waiving the cat adoption fee of $110 to give our beautiful felines a better chance of finding a home! All of our cats are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready, waiting for you!

This promotion applies to adult cats (4+ months) and all adopters will need to complete our standard adoption process so we can make sure a purrrfect match is made. Please note that the adoption process can take more than 30 minutes and during this promotion you may experience long wait times. To get a head start on the adoption process, please complete our adoption questionnaire and bring it along when you visit.

All of our regional centres will be open on Sunday 17 April from 10am - 12pm, giving you more time to find your pawfect match.

This promotion is not in conjunction with any other offer and excludes the bag of Hill’s Premium pet food per animal when paying the full adoption fee.

Please Please PLEASE do not just take advantage of this because its free. Every time RSPCA does this they get approx 40% of the adopted cats back because people did not consider what pet ownership really means and the responsibilities of it. Please make sure that you are 100% committed to a long term pet if you do choose to adopt, and as a personal preference, consider the older cats that are FAR more likely to be put down if they can't find a family.

      Why are people this dumb?

      Amen to nmachine's posting.

When looking to adopt my current and previous dogs, I was a bit shocked to see people asking for quite small amounts ($50-$150) for their "much loved family pet" until it was pointed out to me that it was a great way to filter out those for whom the decision would be based on the initial cost. A single vet visit alone can easily run to $150, as it did for my pooch three weeks ago.

That said, well done and good luck to all those good people who adopt a cat due to this promotion for the right reasons.

I think it's safe to say that regardless the age of a cat, they will be put down. The young ones make them money. The older ones get left behind.

There is an abundance of strays and kittens out there. They're constantly being surrendered. The reason why they even have these free adoptions is so that they can make more room in the cattery without having to put them down (putting them down and disposing of their bodies is not free.) Plus, they'll make someone really happy at the same time.

Actually, I highly recommend older cats. They're out of their kitten phase, so they won't be running around at night, biting cables, pooping everywhere, etc.

Cat's suck, talk to me when you got reduced to clear Dogs!

    • they aren't items in the clearance isle, geez.. have some sympathy for these homeless animals

  • No Sydney?

  • I wish I didn't see this. It broke my heart to see so many animals without a proper home :(

    • -1

Over 60billion domesticated animals per year don't have a "proper home" and end up in the slaughterhouse and finally on people's plates. Heartbreak doesn't help them - stop being part of it.

Sweet, cheap dim sim deal coming soon

  • I wonder if they'll do a deal for NSW soon. I know a couple of friends who are looking
