Full HD TV under $1k in The 42"-50" Range

hi guys,

after a new tv for the bedroom. anywhere between 42"-50". budget is under 1k, around $800 mark would be best. going to be used for mainly gaming and watching sport, so 100hz refresh rate would be ideal. any suggestions? been having a look at the following

Samsung UA48J6200AWXXY – https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/hd-televisio…

Sony KDL43W800C – https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/hd-televisio…

any other suggestions? i've been reading on here lots of people have been having problems with the android OS on Sony's, however picture is good. i've been constantly on ozbargain since my tv shat itself a couple weeks ago looking for any deals to pop up on tvs in my price range and with the specs i need, but nothing yet. are those two good options for the price? i will most likely wait a few more weeks to see if any good deals pop up. are we nearing a time where tv deals are going to prop up soon again?

thanks in advance

  • Had the Sony, was pretty good, but had (very rare) issues with random freezing due to (what I assume was) Android TV. There was also an audible whine from the power pack, but that might not be a big deal for you.
The Samsung has its own OS and the input lag is higher than the Sony (from what I could gather), so if gaming is the TV's primary purpose, you may want to pick the Sony instead.

  • member tightartist is selling a Sony KDL50W800 BNIB in the classifiedssection for $900.

  • Aldi has a 40" 4K TV on special this week.

Not sure if anyone can comment on the quality of bauhn TVs

Otherwise Sony is always a safe option. When I bought a new tv about 2 years ago I was told by the salesperson that sony is more high end than samsung.

  • J6200 would be my choice. Check the review here http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/j6200

About the fastest pixel response time in a non-OLED TV, so great for sport and the like (7.8ms vs 17.2ms on the Sony). Doesn't get as bright as some TVs, including the Sony (not by much), but if there isn't too much direct sunlight into the bedroom, you'll be fine. Input lag is a slight bit higher than the W800c (44.5ms vs 37.4ms), so up to you if that makes a large difference.
