Need suggestions on budget zoom lens for Nikon D5200.

I am looking for a zoom lens (~$200) for my Nikon D5200, found Tamron or Nikon & Sigma having options within this range.

Can you please suggest which is best & hands-on experiences.

  • I would go the Nikon. Will get you sharper images. Less chance of front and back focusing with your camera. If you are going to take photos hand held, the lenses might not be fit for purpose. Highly recommend getting the VR version of the Nikon.

  • Do not go for the Nikon. I have it and it's optically terrible.
I suggest the Nikon 55-200 (any version is fine) which is very good for the price.

If you can fork out more though, the Tamron 70-300 (different model from the one you listed) is also a good choice.

You will also be able to get a used 55-300mm Nikon for $200 or less if you are patient which is also optically quite good.
