Wemo Insight $79.96 at Myer, Price Beat at Bunnings for $71.96

120

At the moment Myer are offering 20% off Belkin Home Automation, this includes the Belkin Insight switch normally $99.95, down to $79.96.

This is already pretty good for those who want to walk into a shop and pick one up off the shelf (you won't find this online, for some reason they don't list the Insight on their website)

I took a photo of the 20% off tag at Myer beside an Insight box, and carried that into Bunnings and successfully got a 10% price beat from Bunnings Alexandria (NSW) for $71.96, which is a total of 28% off the original $99.95.

I would post an image of the Myer tag, but I can only work out how to post one image. [Edit - changed the image to be a combination of both]

There isn't a link - I took a photo of the product on the shelf. Should I swap my uploaded image?

So how did you get Bunnings to price match?

Ours only price matches advertised prices that are not on clearance…

Cause it's a promotion by Myer, not a clearance.

It's easier to price match at Bunnings with a photo of the product in the store, as they'll often tell you that they only match on a stocked item - and use the fact that it's only listed online as a reason to reject your request.

Don't worry about the price match if you don't want to, the actual 'deal' itself is the sale at Myer.

    Thanks OP

  • Why is this tagged as a freebie?

    • Sorry, I ticked it accidentally

  • How does it compare to D-Link DCH-105KT D.I.Y. Smart Plug Kit? Getting two of those for $139 + free postage on ebay.

I can't personally say, but those using home automation for coffee machines in the coffee forums tend to move to the Belkin after frustrations with the D-Link. They might've become more stable since, but the Belkin Insight is still my pick, especially when I can get two of them for almost the same price as your ebay link.

The Insight seems like overkill for a coffee machine - You're better off buying the cheaper Wemo Switch - RRP is $70 so $56 at 20% off.

The Insight Switch has power consumption metering, whereas the normal Wemo Switch is on/off.

Officeworks also stock Wemo and price match -5% (Bunnings has -10%)
If your local Dick Smith has any stock left - Wemo is 40% off there.

        • Maybe so, but it's smaller than the Wemo Switch, and will tell me how much power I'm using with my coffee machine, which the switch can't.

The WeMo system isn't perfect but there is much more 3rd party support for it including Open Source code. D-Link product hasn't been around so there isn't going to be the support or knowledge of problems.

    Confirmed.

Belkin Wemo maker switch $119 after 20% discount.

I have been searching for 3 months for one of these, this is the cheapest place in the country to buy one now.

Readeral, you saved me $30. Cheers

    • No worries!

    • What are you going to use your Wemo Maker for? I'm keen to play with one, but not sure what I'd connect it to!

      • Have you ever wondered when you leave for work did I close my garage?

Use it to wirelessly open and shut my garage.
Works a treat, takes two minutes to setup.
Send me your email address and I will forward pics and instructions.

        • Haha. I live in a rental with a shared garage. Alas no good for me. Maybe one day. I'm very tempted to wire one of these to my coffee grinder to 'auto purge' it's stale grinds in the morning.

        • Hi Karlos,

I'm interested to get a docco on how you got this going. I just don't have a way of sending you a private message. You might need to enable it on the system so I can send you my email.

          Cheers

        • @gerryg: Thanks for the tip - I've allowed PMs now.

        • @readeral: NW, Im still waiting for @Karlos to enable PM on his end. :P

        • @gerryg: Was just good to know it needed doing!
