Crap Panasonic Washing Machine

Purchased a Panasonic 8.5Kg top load washing machine-NAFS85G3WAU last month. Very unhappy with it. A lot of lint left on my dark colour clothing. The manager of Panasonic suggest sending a technician to check it, but if the technician classify it is not a manufacturing problem, I have to pay the fee. The machine can be turned on and do the washing. Thus the technician may say it is not manufacturing problem. I am very unhappy already. I will be very frustrated if Panasonic does not admit the problem and I have to pay the fee. I don't want to take the risk. Do you think I should return it to the shop? ( a lot of work to return the machine) If the shop disagree the return, what can I do?

  • I had this problem and it is likely fine lint. I found to minimise the issue use washing liquid rather than powder, don't overload the machine and use the correct amount of water for the wash. Try cleaning the machine with a hot wash and a cup of vinegar. If nothing improves, even if the technician says he cant find anything wrong then I would deem the machine not fit for purpose and request a refund or replacement from the manufacturer. This is required by law and they can't put the blame back on you if you have followed the manufacturers instructions. I would document everything you do and photograph (or record) the outcomes. Good luck.

  • Thanks for your reply. I have been using liquid powder already. I don't think the machine should be dirty as it is a new one. My old machine was perfect for 10 years and has got the lint problem last year. That is why I purchased this machine. But I failed to check the testing result of CHOICE before. The testing score of the machine is 57% ( the lowest) and the bad comment from CHOICE of such machine is 'bad cleaning result'. It makes me very angry after talking to the manager of Panasonic customer service. I do hope those guys who need to buy a washing machine go to have a look of the testing result of CHOICE and reviews on google rather than spending time complaining as me.

Miele is expensive but they are very good machines. If you are already using liquid laundry liquid not sure where the lint is coming from. If your old machine also had the lint problem maybe there is some issue with what you are washing.

  • My old machine was good for 10 years and I think it started to have lint problem as the machine was old and might have dirt on the tube. My washing is very normal all the years - T-shirt, pants (dark blue or black),fleece jacket/sport shorts/socks/underwear. Can you think of what kind of issue will incur lint on clothing?

Have you cleared the lint filter? Obvious yes, but just in case…

  • Make sure there are no tissues in the pockets

Seperate your washing, I'm told you can't just throw everything together, apparently there is some protocol of what can be washed with what.

  • This site had some interesting suggestions.

  • Thanks a lot for the advices.

  • OP, are you sure the fault is due to the washing machine and not your garments shedding lint?

  • I do think it is related to the machine as I did the same kind of clothing with the Westinginghouse machine for 10 yrs without such problem at all. Moreover, the score of testing result of performance for such model from CHOICE is 57% concerning cleanliness and the bad comment from CHOICE is also for cleanliness. Different machine has different result. I have checked online and I think it may be because the spin speed of such machine is very low so the lint can't be removed out the machine. Anyway, if someone wants to buy the machine - I will say good luck to you.
