  • Does this copy of star fox for wii u also come with star fox guard?

  • Oh no, Skylanders have now expanded to (interactive) playing cards!

    • For real, damn that was quick. Nintendo did a bunch of games with Amiibo Festival that use them. Surprisingly clever.

Great price for Star Fox, but I want the first print edition :(

    • +3

      Same here…I guess it's time to…….DO A BARREL ROLL!!!

      • DO A BARREL ROLL!!!

Poor Peppy's been playing too much Donkey Kong.

  • +1 for the effort on the info. Was hoping it wast the first print edition of Star Fox Zero. :(

Seems we'll have to go to either JB or EB and buy it at full RRP. :'(

EDIT: Does the standard edition include the download code for Star Fox Guard?

    • +2

Nah m8 the only way to get Guard is to either buy the special edition or buy it from the eShop when it arrives which will be $19.50

      • Standard Edition Star Fox Zero + eShop Star Fox Guard = $64 + 19.50 = $83.50

First Print Edition Star Fox Zero = Star Fox Zero (Disc) + Star Fox Guard (Disc) + Steel Case = $99

$15.50 difference for a disc copy of Star Fox Guard and Steel case. Let's just call it "collector's tax". :P

Using amiibos to unlock stuff is a major slap in the face to every old school gamer. Why is the black arwing not a reward for completing the campaign?

Gaming is my hobby and addiction. And I'm genuinely pretty close to stopping purchase of new games because of the direction this 'nickel and dimeing' business model has gone.

    • Its the cloud based consumption model…..pay only for what you use …all the rage with the corporate world and CIOs. ..yeah also hate the nickel and dimeing …

    • Have an upvote, have to agree. I don't bother with it

    • +5

I don't believe so. They created Amiibo to have interactivity across most Nintendo exclusive games. You're still getting a full and complete game. It's optional. It's not like they're giving you 10% of the game, with one level and one character. It's there for people who have purchased, instead of making DLC for the sake of it.

I like the figurines, the DLC that comes with it is bonus for me.

    • Its not entirely that simple, Amiibo is a memory chip/collectible figure that works as an add on (peripheral), thats optional with some games, mandatory with others. They generally work across a bunch of games, even the new one Pokken. Some save a chunk of data for one game specifically at a time (like the smash / tennis functions).

I get your frustration, to an extent, but this comes across more as an additional thing generally. (Nintendo did dlc with some Mario games on GBA and Animal Crossing GC, its not really new). As a 360 owner, i wouldn't put this on the scale of whats going on with the Xb1 / PS4 to the same extent…

Yes there are certain games were it probably would be wiser not to push the content with Amiibo, (like hard mode in Twilight PrincessHD given it was in WW without Amiibo) or Splatoon's dlc (even if some were modest reskin missions while others were minigames).

But for the most part its additional stuff. I heard a hard mode might be amiibo locked in SFZ, which might be questionable depending.

Nintendo made it clear that some of the Smash/Mario lines would be used as mandatory peripherals for certain games, like Mario Party, Mario Tennis and the ones that come with Amiibo Festival. By now most have a few, even those not really into buying Nintendo (lol).

You can always just get one and maybe consider getting the Power Save Product for Wii U (basically a peripheral which allows you to save Ammibo data and unlock data that only specific ones can access)…

Or maybe just quit gaming if its becoming too much of a hassle.

  • Do you think the first print edition will be limited and not gonna get a re-print?

    • +4

I guess they wouldn't call it first print.

      I would guessonce it's gone, it's gone.

      • The real question is: how long will it be in stock, before it runs out?

        • +2

knowing Nintendo special edition items, either hardly any stock a day after release because they gave each store 4 copies, or its really not that limited.

I would hazard a guess and say it will be like a the Metroid Trilogy tin release and be sold out and hard to find.

        • @diddy50:
Steel case for Metroid Trilogy (Wii) for PAL AU land? I don't recall that.

          http://au.ign.com/articles/2009/09/24/au-no-steel-case-for-m…

  • Awesome Star Fox 64

  • Good price for The Force Awakens Blu-ray - $23.

  • Does anyone know if Big W sell weights for barbells etc?

    • +1

I think you mght find pre formed barbells, but not weights …

  • +1

First Print looks interesting, but i kind of wonder if they are going to drop the price given they increase it during the preorder period. First Print might be cheaper at launch but then run out.

    • +1

Finger crossed that the price will drop. But so far haven't heard anything like that though

    • +1

preorder/buy from ebgames. return if it gets cheaper somewhere else

  • Is this the best deal at the moment on Adrenaline gift cards? Any better ways to buy these?

    • can't you stack this off with the bigw gift cards for 7.5% off?

Star Fox Zero price comparison (including First Print Edition)
    http://www.vooks.net/aussie-bargain-roundup-star-fox-zero-st…
    Thanks to vooks.net

    • +1

Spoiler alert: the cheapest first print is currently $99. I don't see it getting any cheaper.

      • $92.99 ($88 + $4.99 delivery) from Mighty Ape.

        • Oh nice. However that game will most likely not be aus stock as mightyape ships from overseas. I'd prefer to pay $99 for local stock.

    • If Big W are only selling the standard edition, then I'd guess that Target would be selling the standard edition as well.

Big call by vooks.net to assume Target will be selling the First Print Edition.

  • +1

Starfox gaurd will be a rare in the future. It's a first print, there won't be a rerelease or any more made after these first few. I know it can be purchased on eshop but people love rare disks and especially Nintendo stuff. Although it's $100, I've preordered it through EB and hope that it drops it's price somewhere. I'm doubtful though.

  • Just as a precaution: Can there be problems with Skype Voucher?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/219317

A response from Skype here said: "Skype vouchers will be completely pulled out of the market soon."

  • Anyone get the upcoming Target catalogue early? Would be very interested to see the price on Starfox Zero for stand alone and if they stock the First Print edition.

    • +1

no gaming in this weeks catalogue :( it's one of the most boring catalogues I have seen in recent times

      • For the Target catalogue period: Thursday 21-04-2016 to Wednesday 27-04-2016 ?

        • +1

Yep, it's some bullshit mothers day crap catalogue lol

  • +1

    Hey OzB members.

Official Target pricing for Starfox Zero

    Standalone - $64
    First Print Edition - $99

    source: https://twitter.com/Targetaus/status/722267633412755459

Seems like no one local will be offering a discounted price on the First Print Edition!

    • Dam! Target also just increased pretty much 80% of their gaming products online :(
