Don't bother, presto is shit. No subtitles. Horrible App. Only really care for Walking Dead

    • +4

Totally agree. Got it for free but never use it. Have not been able to watch anything without it stopping after a while and buffering/completely freezing. Never once had that issue with Netflix

    • +1

I tried to use it for the last few months to watch Buffy and Angel and it's rewarded my good intentions with constant drop-outs and crashes (via the Chromecast). As someone below said it'd be for the best if the content was gobbled up by one of the better services like Netflix or Stan.

  • +7

    It's NOT a freebie

  • +7

    Still too expensive.

  • +1

They'd have to pay me to use presto…

  • I cant find movies, i think they should go free all the time, no one will use it.

  • Foxtel in itself is expensive, which kinda negates this offering.

  • damn they should just give presto for free.
i wouldnt pay for it but still got the free 12month subscription or whatever it was.

    • +4

They pretty much do, I get 3-6mth free offers from one source or another almost weekly…last time I took one up it lasted less than a day before I outright cancelled it.

As Rorymeister said, the infrastructure is so clunky, and device support so poor, that it renders the entire service untenable.

      • How do u get free offers? :O

        • +1

Quickflix are the usual culprits, but there's a couple of other mobs that keep sending them to me as well, I'll try to remember before I delete them next time! ;)

  • +2

Oh please. 'Foxtel' is an antonym for 'Good Deal.'

  • +4

If I'm paying for Platinum Foxtel I'd expect I'd have access to everything that Presto offers in my expensive subscription. Not only that, Presto is in SD, how is that some kind of premium add-on?

    • +1

Yes you're already paying a premium just for HD content, its not like you'd be willing to pay another $15 for the SD version.

Now if Presto would merge with Stan (i.e. just give them the Presto content). Then they might compete with Netflix.

      • Now if Presto would merge with Stan (i.e. just give them the Presto content). Then they might compete with Netflix.

That is actually a really great idea…I'm already pretty happy with Stan, and the additional content would give them a real leg up over some of the stale Netflix offerings.

I tried to be a good citizen and watch Mr.Robot on Presto - I lasted 4 episodes then had to acquire it by other means.

The app / website was so clunky - it would constantly buffer and never remember where I left off.

    Such a poor service.

Like Foxtel, I hope it goes under.

Then vote Greens/Labor and you will get an NBN that puts them out of business

Then vote Greens/Labor and you will get an NBN that puts them out of business

Correction, vote Greens/Labor, puts everyone out of business.

    • +1

competition is good for the consumer, never wish companies to go under

      • -2

Unless it's a brothel, then they need to go under to stay in business.

      • +1

I agree. But what are Foxtel doing to stop their customers from being ripped off? Having a free streaming service that is worse value than a PAID one is just ridiculous.

By saying that I hope they go under - I hope they realise their current business model is unsustainable and give us what we really want: Stand alone sports package / packages for $20 per month.

  • Thought this said "pesto" and so I thought I had lunch sorted today :(

  • Can you extend the free 6 month Telstra offer with this offer?

  • I've never had any buffering issues on either PC or tablet. The only gripe I have is sometimes it doesn't mark a show as complete, so when you click on the watch next episode button it takes you back to the last one you watched with 1 second left to go.

    • The other thing that shitted me is if you leave an ep half way through, it requires manual fast forwarding… like a VHS.

      wtf

      • I don't get that. I get a popup asking if I want to resume or start from the beginning.

  • I don't think Presto would survive as beyond a free service - it's not worth the $14.99/mo or whatever it costs. Still, yet another way to get it free for a bit, can't complain.

  • was hoping there'd be another 6 month voucher. anyone know of one?

    • +2

The real question is, will Presto exist in 6 months?

  • Mine works ok but occasionally the phone will be in landscape mode but the presto app will be stuck in portrait, even though you cant watch it in portrait with the presto app on iphone.

  • ref "Available to Foxtel Platinum HD customers until 31 January 2017 and only whilst they remain subscribed to Platinum HD." does it mean if cancel our foxtel membership they will start charging our credit cards right away if we continue with presto?
