    • Thanks OP. Purchased one and quickly cancelled now redundant RACV roadside assist total care. Just saved me $180. Cheers

I know what you mean. It's a complete waste of money if you have roadside assist. I purchased jump cables and have never once had to use them on my car in all these years.

Ok, yeah, sure, I've used them to help other people start their cars a fair few times, but never my car.

      ;)

Doesn't look like much stock around.

Really want triangles with flashing LEDS.

    • +9

      Take them clubbin?

    • +6

Really want triangles with flashing LEDS.

What you want are European standard warning triangles available from VW, Audi and BMW dealerships for around $30. These are the same ones they fit standard to cars in Europe and are top quality, stable no matter what the weather and are visible from a long distance.

Australia is so far behind on safety in cars because we refuse to mandate first aid kits, warning triangles, vests and fire extinguishers along with mandatory first aid training when you get your licence.

As for the warning triangle with flashing lights, this is nothing but a gimmick and utterly worthless like many of the components in this kit.

      • +3

Agree, nearly everything in here is junk. 250amp jumper leads are just going to disappoint when really needed, this stuff looks like the kind of kit you would buy for the overly "prepared" dork uncle. Kind of dufus that has tall floppy orange flags on his recliner bike.
        Just junk.

~~Australia is so far behind on safety in cars because we refuse to mandate first aid kits, warning triangles, vests and fire extinguishers along with mandatory first aid training when you get your licence.~

My father taught me to drive almost 20 yrs ago. Being old school euro driver , I had to pass his "test" first prior to going to driving instructor.

        Always always had :
        - 1st Aid kit
        - Triangle
        - Small toolkit
        - Fire extinguisher (in a location where it can be reached by the driver with minimum effort)
        - Rope

The mind boggles when there is 2,500 km between some cities that the above is not just mandatory but strictly enforced, however god forbid you do 3 km over the limit, or fit larger brakes / wheels.

Great for all the Jeep owners. You can say to all your friends "I bought a breakdown kit"

    • +4

I thought Cheaps ARE the breakdown Kid :P

    • +2

Lol I came to write the same thing.

"Don't hold back, buy a breakdown kit"

  • One such product like buy it but hope never to us it!!

    • +2

One such product like buy it but hope never to us it!!

Mainly because the quality is crap and the warning triangles will fall over when you turn your back and a car will mow you down, the tow rope will snap beheading nearby motorists, the jumper leads will catch fire before shorting out and both car batteries explode showering onlookers with shrapnel and acid, the first aid kit will offer plenty if you have a paper cut but any more and you'll bleed out….

Buy quality and if you do have to use it you'll actually be able to achieve something.

  • None at chirnside park

  • every single officeworks deal advertised here is NEVER ACTUALLY available in any store. There is never any stock anywhere. Its not worth posting if they only have qty: x5 nationwide. Its almost like they advertise these prices on the website to make the deal look legit to bait people into their stores!!

    • Dropped into Bondi Junction, they have 2 more of these after the two I took and they have the Bluetooth speakers

    • -1

Picked up the last 4, Marion store, S.A. Double up on the tow ropes, & jumper Leads, to ensure it works…!!!

  • +2

Why the heck stuff like this isn't compulsory in cars is beyond me.

    EVERYONE should carry

A torch with a flash function

    Emergency triangles

    Decent Jumper cables

That tow rope would be useless.

    • +1

Is this 250A jumper cable decent?
Do we need bigger amp to jump start medium size car battery?
Is 250A only enough to jump start a remote control toy car? :P

      • No, my cheapies have jumps tarted mercs, Nissan's and Hyundai's, never a problem, even though the rubber insulated handles are always falling off they are so cheap.

It's luck if the draw, a good set with a low rating will work

  • +1

This special is exclusively for vans owners who mention the code "Vito" at the service desk.

    • I used code craptiva

      • +1

Yeah that'd work for sure. You'll probably get one free thrown in.

  • Bought one at Highpoint shopping centre store, VIC. They had three left and it said they were $30 but scanned at $15 :)

I said to the guy that these should be mandatory in all vehicles like Europe. One could only wish that Australia was smart for once!

    • +3

In Australia you need to call the traffic control people who will come out with witches hats, lane closed signs, lolly pop man and 2 people with high vis vest to watch you work whilst you change your tyre.

      • Haha nice one!

      • You forgot the last bit, charge you for it sometimes

  • +3

I wonder if anyone had a breakdown whilst driving to pick one of these up.

    • Well I picked this up because I went with a friend to drive in cinema yesterday and the car didn't start. Lucky someone helped us who could jump start my friends car but also thought it was a good idea to have one in my car!

  • Bought the last one at Albury (NSW). Now what could possibly go wrong.

  • Picked up the last one from Tarren Point (NSW). Thanks OP!

  • I'm back boys

  • Do you need this if you have a toyota?

    • +1

No. All brand-new Toyota come with a free first-aid kit. That's all you need.

  • Any comments on the quality? Is it just cheap junk?
