You need to work out the True Latency as a lower CAS Latency at 2133mhz does not necessarily mean better then higher CAS at 2400mhz for example.
We had a short discussion about specs vs real world here. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/3571118/redir
what happens if you put 2 different brand Rams on your motherboard?
is it compatible?
The mb is supposed to slow down to the lowest common denominator, but ymmv.
I won't touch patriot ram! Ask the folk at msy when the return rate is on this brand.
I wouldn't touch the cheaper stuff without heatsinks etc. but the Viper series is pretty good afaik. I've been using my Viper 3s without issues for 3 years.
the fine print with DDR4 memory seems to be the timing, not he speed, timing varying between 13-15 cycles ….. I have the kingston hyper X 2133 DDR4 from MSY $105, 14 cycles …… not sure how noticeable that is at 2133mhz. the difference between 14 cycle and 15 cycle refresh was $4.
guess it's a bit like SSD …… do you notice the speed difference in real world or just go with GB per $$$.
