Decent priced slippers / ugg boots

Hey guys. With winter fast approaching I find myself in the market for a decent pair of slippers or ugg boots. I have no idea about what is a good price or good quality for these things so I'm hoping someone here might be able to offer some advice.

Cheers

  • They range from the $10 things that Kmart sell to the $200 sheepskin covered & sheep wool lined boots you can get at those "Ugg" brand shops that you see all over the city.

Depends on what quality you're after.

    • Ideally something that lasts a few winters, that's keeps my feet toasty, but isn't too pricey

  • I love the Peter Alexander home boots.

    • Where do you buy them from?

If you don't have a Peter Alexander store near you peteralexander.com.au :)

    • The peter alexander ones are definitely not made from comfy sheepskin wool.
THey are really thin and way overpriced for what you could.

      • That's odd. Mine were thick and cosy and lasted me years!

  • Are you planning on wearing them outside the home? Consider getting fleece-lined boots with a proper bottom and more waterproof sides. If you're only using them inside a quality pair from a local place should be ~$80 and last a few years.

Also make sure you are getting wool, not synthetic if you are worried about smelly feet. And if you care, many of the "Australian" brands are actually made in China including the "Ugg" brand which is actually an American company whose product is made in China pretending to be an Australian product… If I'm paying $80 plus personally I'd prefer to buy an Australian made pair.

  • Thanks for the tips. Will be indoor only, not so keen on wearing them out.

  • I bought the ex a pair of 'UGG'-like boots from online, they were imitation at around $100. They are ok, but I found the walls of the boot above the ankles were flimsy and wouldn't standup straight after one season. She bought me a genuine pair the following season for around $200 and I can whole-heartedly recommend the premium one. Feels so much comfier and refined compared to the imitation. Hope that helps.

Have a look at Blue Mountains Ugg Boots. They claim to be Australian made and are not affiliated with the 'Ugg' brand.

I've got uggs from UGG Australia and Yellow Earth.

Both are very comfortable but I've found Yellow Earth has a better build quality.

Big plus is their Emporium store has an awesome fitout!

  • Thanks for all the replies, ended up getting some from blue mountain uggs. Will let you know what they are like when they arrive

    • So.. Are they any good? Thanks

      • Yes they are fantastic, my wife got some too and she loves them add well

        • Thanks for taking the time to reply. Good to hear I think i will get some too.

        • @scandalous: no worries I actually forgot about this thread so thanks for reminding me to reply

  • +1 for Blue Mountain Uggs.

I saw lots of ozb deals for uggs, but also lots of comments that made me wary of some of the offerings. After searching through these forums (and maybe whirlpool?), I thought I'd give the Blue Mountain ones a shot.

Quality is excellent, wool is soft and fluffy :) They were a tad tight at first, but feel like they've loosened up a bit. The website is old-looking, but during the ordering process, they say you can let them know your foot size in cm/mm and they'll pick the right size for you. So perhaps my feet are just on the border between this size and the next, but they've loosened a bit and now I'm really quite happy with them.

    Recommended.
