I'm looking for suggestions on an affordable mini PC to plug into the TV (HDMI essential). Only likely to be used for streaming Netflix, and downloading and watching media on VLC. I quite like the idea of it being portable, but doesn't really need it's own battery.
Ideally looking for Windows compatible devices. Have a spare license so it doesn't need to be installed by default.
I've been considering the Kangaroo Mobile Desktop but figured there might be some similar options available in Australia or Asia for easy import.

the only mini-PC that is 'officially' sold in Australia is Intel's own Intel Compute Stick, which generally sells for $100~149 depending on which retailer you buy from.

The ASUS chromebit is also locally available for a fairly steep price of $149 AUD

JB Hifi started to sell the Lenovo Ideacentre Stick 300, for a VERY steep price of $199

(who the hell pays $199 for a Z3735-based stick is beyond me)
The kangaroo pc is not sold in Australia, but I reckon for $200AU or so, you can import in a pretty decent no-name PC with 4gb of RAM and better processor from the likes of Gearbest or Aliexpress.
I looked online and for 145 USD (less than $200 bux) there's a small form factor barebones unit powered by a Core i3 processor, made by a company called Hystou. Looks like a good alternative to an intel nuc.
