  • Exactly which model is this?

      • Even the Xiaomi website has zero information or specs….
Are these the successor to Piston 3? Or is it a budget version like the "youth edition"? or…..

        • +1

          No idea lol

        • It seems like the successor to the piston 3 is the Piston IV hybrid

They look like these from Xiaomi's Official Chinese site: http://www.mi.com/huosai2/

Since I can't see the Piston youths anymore from the site, and the Chinese roughly translates to Xiaomi Piston Basic/Fundamental version, I'd assume it replaces the Piston Youth/Colourful rangs

        • @chorong: Yeah that looks like the Basic Edition from the Chinese. $29 RMB = USD $4.50 however.

        • @roger1505:

It seems like the successor to the piston 3 is the Piston IV hybrid

Also known as Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro (Model:QTER01JY)?

Says: "Volume buttons not supported on iOS devices." Does Xiaomi hate Apple?

        • @chorong:

I'd assume it replaces the Piston Youth/Colourful rangs

Correct. The Youth/Dazzle have been replaced by these and the Piston 3 is replaced by the Hybrid.

        • @AlexF: No they dont hate Apple. They have their own range of phones to support which runs on an Android standard that is incompatible with Apple Standards. Standard Competition as the same logic applies in reverse that Apple buds in Android phones.

        • @AlexF: Their market is Android since the smart devices they make are Android.

iOS requires different software to interact with. I am not sure if you can make buttons that simultaneously work on both Android and iOS other than the answer/hangup button. It would need to be able to send two different signals.

That or they make two versions of all of their earphones. And since Xiaomi's primary market is China, where the majority of the devices sold are Android, there probably isn't a big enough demand for iOS specific earphones in their primary market.

  • I just bought the Piston IV hybrids, didn't know these existed.. Any reviews out there for these?

Tried Googling them and this post is the first link!

  • Pretty sure the new ones (4's) are the only Hybrid, these are referred to as the 'Basic' on the Xiaomi website.

If they are like a pair I have (4 series so far) expect them to be similar to the 3's but lesser quality, basic packaging and now available in many colours.

If correct, these are double what I paid last year, but hard to tell.
