Hello Ozbargainers, I've been using Uber for a few years now and I have had a lot of good trips and a lot of bad trips.
I'm curious on the experience other people have had while riding with Uber!

Can i book a car seat with uber?
Sorry all seats are occupied, standing room only.
Please hold on, the car might stop suddenly.
I have half of the boot and one roof rack available - the choice is yours
Not taking bonnet bookings, its just not safe
I want to ask if I can book a baby seat which she will be travelling with me on uber?
good
Missing. The few times I've tried to get one, none would come so I called a taxi instead.
a lot of bad trips
care to elaborate with examples?
I've had mostly good experiences. Not always easy to get one if you're outside the city tho
Have not tried yet. A bit worried about giving credit card details and they keep them on file all the time. Who is authorised to see them? What if they are hacked?
I know you can report unauthorised transactions and eventually you get refunded, but it would be a pain.
Paypal is your friend.
Have used in AU and in US, all good experiences except one minor one.
Car's are clean, the app is great to use and my favourite part is no cash handling or credit card surcharges.
Only bad experience I've had is when I set a pickup point that was 10min walk away, but driver went to the location where I originally was and then cancelled on me after waiting at the wrong location. Uber charged me $10 for the cancellation, but to their credit, they refunded it (as credit) immediately when I reported that the driver cancelled.
Thinking about using them next month to travel to Perth airport. However " Shofer" are now the new cabs on the block & also advertising great deals.Any of you had dealings with them so we can compare ?
Uber is great.
I've had a lot of Indians who are very polite and very respective when you're not feeling particularly talkative.
Cars are always clean and air-conditioned. They're very patient too.
Had a good run with Ubers lately. Travelled in a couple of lexus's, porsche, audi. Mate of mine even had a limo pick him up last week. Always friendly and its nice not to have to cram into the usual prius gold coast taxi.
Never an issue, use it in America, Mexico and Australia.
Probably use it a dozen times a week or more in Melbourne.
I don't bother in Kuala Lumpur or Singapore as taxis there are plentiful and cheap.
locals find taxis in malaysia expensive.
Uber isn't any cheaper there, and they're far from plentiful.
It looks to be aimed more at tourists than locals.
Used Uber in San Francisco last wee took us to Twin Peaks to get some pics, driver got out and checked out the view, took family photos for us and waited 20mins while we checked out the sights and then drove us to China Town. 10/10 can anyone imagine a Taxi driver doing this?
Great! Used them in melbourne a few times and they've all been way better than taxis
I have found there is a big difference between Uber in Melbourne and Perth. In Melbourne, drivers were mostly young professionals. I met lots of people who were driving to supplement income whilst starting up a business. Also, new fathers who were taking a break from work and driving because they could be flexible with time and help their wife out. Cars were mostly Mercs, BMW's, new falcons etc.
In Perth however, I have found it is mostly former taxi drivers in cars that just meet the minimum Uber requirements. Eg: Holden Cruze, Toyota Corollas etc. Unfortunately, some have retained their taxi driver habits such as running red lights and sleeping in the car waiting for jobs resulting in funky smells.
I had a bad experience.
While entering the uber car I had my right leg just in as the driver started moving and rolled over my left foot which was my standing leg and I couldn't pull out. It's just bruises and I didn't need to go to the hospital, but the shoes I bought just the day before are ruined.
Anyone an idea how to get compensated? I didn't book the trip and the driver didn't even apologised.
Thanks
Take it up with the person who booked the trip to put in a complaint with Uber would be the obvious answer I can think of.
I use them regularly in Melbourne and never had any issues. I've always found them to be far more friendlier than the yellow cabs and I'm sure many people would agree.
