You Can't Do Trade-Ins with a Passport as ID in SA Anymore?

I was going to JB hi fi to grab a copy of Quantum Break, and I was going to do the trade 2 for 1 deal. But I was told by the staffs that they don't accept a passport as ID for trade-ins. They only found out this new policy a month ago, and apparently it's an SA thing.

Just to be clear, I've only been here for 6 months, and I don't have a driver's license yet. A passport is the only ID I have.

  • next they will say proof of age card lol

  • No birth certificate?

Could be a good idea to get a proof of age card you can keep in your wallet. I hate carrying my passport around because I'm paranoid I'll lose it :P

    • A proof of age card seems to be a nice idea, I'm looking into it now. Thank you!

  • Looks like it's just an SA thing, perhaps related to state laws.

You must be over the age of 18 in order to trade-in a game. Photo ID (drivers’ licence, proof of age card, Australian passports and (in all states other than SA) international passports) required. Additional identification documents may be required if photo ID does not show residential address for all goods traded-in.

    • Yeah I just saw that. I swear last time I checked, the "(in all states other than SA)" part is not there.

    • Wow… What's the problem with SA??

  • nvm. bonezAU's fingers are faster than mine.

  • Where's the Trade 2 for 1 deal advertised?

    NVM, trade-in list is tiny!

Pretty much anything that Target won't stock and sell for $10. Like that other guy who got a store ban a few months back.
