Not saying this is a good deal but there are heaps of other good deals which don't make it to front page.
Youre right - there is a bottleneck of decent deals that dont hit the front page coz of all the free udemy courses and phone apps that people keep upvoting by the dozen, which for the life of me i cannot figure out why
Also, every day several SD card and SSD deals hit the front page - there is a definite over representation of those kind of deals too
I disagree, voting phone app or udemy course deals has nothing to do with not voting other type of deals. Phone app and udemy course deals only target people who have particular devices or account with udemy. However other deals target majority of people on OZbargain. It's just people forget to appreciate that someone has helped them save money or their ego comes in play. If every person who has saved money using a deal upvoted the deal, most of the decent deals will be on front page.
@Jimmy007: your forgetting that there is finite space on the front page champ - when a few dozen bargain-lemmings upvote every ebook/udemy course/phone app/SSD/SD deal, it leaves limited scope for what you referred to as :
heaps of other good deals which don't make it to front page.
As they just drop off from the feed that much quicker whenthe motivation is there for posters to keep throwing up the same old content
@pointless comment: while i was typing the above reply, a new SD deal went straight to the front page in a matter of minutes
Its a timeley and pertinent illustration of how your hoodie deal is further diluted in the deal-pool with another deal that is pretty much the same as the dozen comparable products before it.
Althought it looks to be a good price, and will undoubtedly benefit some lurkers on ozbargain, Id even go so far to say that id be surprised if even two of the early upvoters actually bought the SD card in the deal!
EDIT: and now another post has just popped up for an SSD. Of the last 15 deals posted, 3 have been phone apps, amd 1 each of SSD and Sd card.
So that accounts for 33% of all deals on the front page feed in the past few hours - See what im getting at?
The 2 deals at 15 and 14th position on the feed are on 14 and 16 votes - so close to the necessary 20 to hit the front page but also so close to dropping out of visibility altogether - and that is exacerbated by the app and the memory card /SSD deals
atleast we are stepping up from the usual ozbargain uniforms aka slazenger gear
Both of those jackets are as ugly as hell unfortunately.
I dont think either of these deals are hood enough to make the front page
