this is the cheapest I found on pine nuts @ $49.75 per kg
You're 100% correct, this is a good deal. I did the maths when sent down to get pine nuts from Woolies a couple of years ago. It worked out to be over $93 a kilo. We don't have Aldi or Costco in WA.
I'm pretty sure my local markets (Swansea St in Vic Park) have them loose for <$40/kg as a standard price.
@shoobs: That's heaps better.
Yea pinenuts are always expensive I only use them when cooking..
Try Aldi's pinenuts about $5ish/100gr, everyday price.
Checked in ALDI and the staff told me that they don't sell Pine nuts
They do here in Sydney, in the shelf next to sultanas, nuts & seeds.
which suburb in Sydney ?
I thought I saw pine nuts for $30+ at Costco the other day, might be wrong but if you got a membership and looking for pine nuts, dont forget to check it out the next time u shop there.
yep, about $43/kg at Costco
I thought they were less than $43 per kilo at Costco last time I was there (admittedly 7 months ago) ??
I thought I paid about $30 per kilo…
I'm sure it's not $30 from the times I've been to the Auburn and Casula store. They sell for around $33 odd but I think it's a 800g pack from memory.
Was just in Woolworths - standard price for 300gram packet of Woolworths Select branded pine nuts is $49.18 per kg.
wtf, $50/kg!
i'd easily choose walnuts at < $20/kg anyday.
OP As per your photograph.
If I did not have any Pine Nuts in stock, I would price them at $4.95 a pack.
Don't buy this brand. Cheap and nasty imported pine nuts. I had these ones and got metallogeusia, which is a reaction some people experience after eating the particular kind of pine nut that Ducks use. Causes a strong and extremely unpleasant bitter taste in your mouth whenever you eat or drink for days after.
I don't know that you can narrow it down to a particular brand, but it's a good idea to stay away from the Chinese stuff - as it is with a lot of things.
Also as it is unfortunately with a lot of things it's very hard to find any that aren't from China…
It's the Duck's Nuts
Thanks jv :-) Just learnt a new funny saying/slogan. Worth an upvote to boot.
How is 20% off a bargain?
