It's reasonably common knowledge that most public libraries have access to genealogy subscription sites like Ancestry.com.au and FindMyPast.com.au when used from their computers - however I was just at my local library (in Victoria) to use FindMyPast.com.au and it seems that the login at my library gave me a 1 month subscription to use anywhere, including from home.
After going to the site on the library PC, I had to log into FMP using my own login (this never used to be the case). Logged in, all good - World access in the library as expected. What wasn't expected it saying that I had a 1 month World subscription starting today.
Once I got home I checked and sure enough, I can access new records from home - presumably until my 1 month subscription expires.
Save a few dollars (1 month on the World plan costs $19.95) on genealogy research while being able to logon and access new records from home - no having to deal with a sticky keyboards and mouse while sitting half a a metre away from someone trying to surreptitiously watch porn.
I'm not sure if this would go back far enough for me, I was here before the river and the trees; I remember the first raindrop and the first acorn.
