I'm pretty sure they never offered student discounts off phones. iPads and Macs yes, but not iPhones.

According to the Apple website there is education pricing only on Mac & iPad.
I did get a stud discount on an iPhone a couple of years ago. I don't see it now, just on the bigger things. I think the phone discount that I did get has gone now.

You still get 24 month warranty if you buy from local sellers from eBay like Mobileciti. And their prices are better than Apples student prices, at least of the phone that I got.
