Private Internet Access (PIA) VPN - $42 AUD/Year ($31.95 USD)

220

For those who missed out, or simply don't want to commit to three years from the earlier deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/238687), here's a yearly one.

By default this creates a recurring payment, but you can cancel that easily enough if you only want 1 year.

Currently my favourite VPN, been using them for 3+ years with no issues, highly recommended.

EDIT: This deal is still valid as of 18 Sept 2016.

  • I got this last time. Great service!

  • ahh d'oh. i just signed up on the 28th for 39.95USD!! (This deal here is 31.95USD). I just spotted on that page there's a 7 day money back guarantee… !!! Guess I'll be doing that :)

Yep, they're pretty good with refunds I found. They don't make a big fuss over it. Just cancel and then re-sign using this deal.

    • Just wondering, what's the GIF doing under my comment? I didn't add that :P At least I don't think I did!

  • The only complaint I had with this was when using it on a Mac, it would take forever to connect, an sometimes would take a few goes to connect. 5mins or so to connect got frustrating.

On my windows PC though, it was fine. I had heard others complain about the mac performance.

    • I have not tried on Windows but on my OSX it works like a charm, very quick to connect.
I do have problems with Android TV Box running on v4.2.x, but this is because the kernel was not compiled with tun.ko module. It worked fine with 4.4 and above.
I was using a few Chinese generic TV Box

  • /gif hacking

  • Would this be better than Witopia? I was with Witopia for since 2012 but didnt renew recently.

Can we use this deal to extend our current (active) subscription? Or only when our current subscription has expired?

    • I too would like to know this.

    • +1

Not really. PIA don't have 'user accounts' as such. When you subscribe you create a new subscription starting from that point onwards. You get a new username and password.

If you still have an active subscription you might as well let that one finish first.

      • Except i signed up only a week ago to another 3 months lol (forgot to cancel at end of previous 3 months).

    • " * The offer is valid for new customers only "

  • awww, it just renewed

  • As anyone used PIA and Torguard, and which one is better? I find Torguard is good going through the proxy but slow using their VPN software. Dose PIA have similar issues?

  • anyone know when this offer expires, or based on past experience, how long PIA offers normally run for?

    • Maybe a week or two, usually. They never show the expiry date. One day you'll click on the promo link and it'll no longer have the discounted price.

  • Perfect timing! I'm in.

  • What method of payment does everyone use to subscribe to this service? I bought a pre paid debit card last time and I had a really bad experience with be able to buy anything online with it.

    • Just paypal with a recurring payment works fine for me.

  • This offer is still valid. If you have an existing account it will create a new account. Not a problem as far as I'm concerned, I had already cancelled the recurring payment.

    • Does it continue from your existing account's expiry date? Or does the new account commence from the payment date?

      • Commences from payment date. It says in small print that the offer is valid for new customers only, which wasn't an issue for me because my annual subscription had already expired.

  • Expired? Showing as 39.95 for me..

  • still working. just purchased with paypal.

  • Seems expired. Back to U$39.95/year again

    • sure? seems to still work. main site also shows USD31.95/year, not just the OP link

  • Still works. Was hunting around for VPN replacement and have heard/read good things about PIA.

    Thanks for link :)

  • Offer is still active, thanks!

    • Thanks for the feedback, I'll update the main post.

  • Offer expired…now 39.95 USD per year.

    • Thanks, marked as such.
