Everything.
Not if you can get it cheaper elsewhere…
Perhaps something like this will help you be a little less bitter, wait until the 6th to get it though :) Be glamorous JV.
pink isn't my colour, it doesn't bring out the best in my eyes…
How about from http://www.cosmeticcapital.com.au?
Yassss, cannot wait!
Yassss Queen Yassss
What counts as cosmetics? Face wash moisturisers etc?
Makeup, selected brushes/tools & selected nail products if I recall correctly from the previous 40% off cosmetics sale at Priceline :)
They have 40% skincare sales separately at other times during the year.
Anyone know what the * terms are?
As a makeup hoarder let me save you some time:
Best buys:
- Borjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation (if you can find it, it's getting more difficult to find, universally recommended)
- Revlon Colorstay Foundation (check COTD first if you're a club catch member - selected shades for normal/oily & dry skin are $16 including 150 Buff if you're white as a sheet ghost like me)
- Rimmel 25 Hour foundation, or Rimmel Match Perfection (I think that's what it's called - the blue and red caps. They have pumps, both are excellent and longwearing and do not oxidise orange)
- Ardelle false eyelashes & lash adhesive (if they're part of the sale, if not disregard)
- Sally Hansen / essie nail polish (depending on your brush width/formula preferences) IF you can't find the same shade online for cheaper inclusive of shipping. eBay is fantastic for this, I've found scarce China Glaze shades (my favourite formula) for $5 new, essie for $6, etc.
- L'Oreal infallible single eyeshadows (these are so fantastic layered over a sticky base)
- Maybelline color tattoo cream eyeshadow pots (this being my sticky base of choice - by themselves they suck, get one you'd pair with a favourite shadow)
- Australis Metallix eyeshadow pots (again, so awesome, my favourite is Guns and Rose Petals)
- Maybelline color tattoo gel pot eyeliner (best there is, hands down my favourite gel liner)
- Covergirl clump crusher (check first to see if it's on sale elsewhere - Coles is having regular sales of 30% off Covergirl as they bring in their new line of makeup so do your homework)
- L'Oreal true match foundation (not my cup of tea because it's yellow as, but if you're a fan of this formula, here's your opportunity)
- Essence eyeshadow & gel eyeliner pencils (so good, so cheap, a steal at 40% off)
- Neutrogena night calming makeup wipes (the only wipes I will ever use, they're gentle, saturated, whip through liner with ease, and smell great)
- Bourjois eyeshadow pots (hard to find anywhere else so Priceline is your best bet)Not worth it if it's only opportunistic:
- Maybelline mascara (regularly on sale elsewhere, i.e. COTD, supermarkets, Chem WH)
- Rimmel eyeshadow quads (they suck, save your money, or opt for the single shadows if you find one you really like, even still I'd avoid them because having to reach for single eyeshadows vs a palette will make you tuck them in a drawer and forget about them)
- Supposedly fancy tools like false lash tweezers, nail art kits, etc - these are incredibly overpriced to begin with, either spend your money on high end tools and do your research, or skip the middle-ground and order from Aliexpress or eBay for exactly the same quality
- Physician's Formula blush (they barely show up on the skin despite looking super pretty)
- Most makeup wipes (always on sale in the supermarket, excluding the Neutrogena one I mentioned because it's amazing)Login just to +1 your comment, thank you for the effort
Cheers!
Love this comment! Any recommendations on a good lipstick that isn't too drying and won't fade? Cheers :)
I'm more of a lipgloss girl, but I can recommend against Australis Velourlips on account of them turning your lips into the Sahara desert. I still have a soft spot for the Revlon lip butters, there really is a colour for everybody. They're very hydrating and a couple of them are as pigmented as lipsticks. Touch ups required probably every 2-3 hours working front counter retail. Essence lipsticks aren't suuuper pigmented but the colour they do provide lasts and they smell like delicious cake. I think in terms of lasting power at the drugstore, Revlon lipsticks tend to get the best wrap. My mum swears by them.
+1 for your comment (plus OP).

Sadly, I don't think the Revlon Lip Butters are available anymore, AFAIK they have been discontinued.
What lipgloss would you recommend?
@AnonyMiss: Oh noo! That's so disappointing!
@AnonyMiss: though discontinued, the chemist near Aldi in Stones Corner has Revlon Lip Butters. What's your favourite shade, Damnscenekids?
L'Oreal Infalliable is ah-may-zing and the only red lipstick I've used for probably 6 years now. I find it very rich, but I don't have issues with dryness so I can't comment from that perspective. It lasts all day if I apply it right (line and fill lips w/liner, coat, firm blot, wait 5 mins, second coat, second blot (applying powder to the between blots makes it last even longer too!!))
Name of shade please?
@kobrien456: personally ravishing red is my favourite and is THE definition of a classic red lip, but colours work differently on different people and skin tones :)
Do you recommend a particular Maybelline mascara? There's so many… :/
I don't tend to use Maybelline mascara on account of not ever finding one I really liked. My favourite mascara of all time is Estee Lauder sumptuous extreme in the gold tube, I'm on my 3rd or 4th one now. They're $52 a shot but I won't compromise. Here's a photo with 3 coats (sorry for my creepy expression): http://i.imgur.com/vpISdm0.png
Last year they included a Sumptuous Extreme mascara with Marie Claire magazines one month and the magazine was only about $10. I bought three, it was amazing.
@kez26: Same!! What a steal!
Not creepy at all. Do you ever get raccoon eyes with this? I seem to get them with everything except tubing mascaras. I'd love to have other options. Thanks for such an informative response.
@kez26: Another magazine freebie mascara I quite liked (ie. actually used up) was the Revlon Bold Lacquer, in a bluey/greenish tube.
Opened a brand new mascara today, Clinique High Impact, and by the end of the day look a bit panda eyes, so not sure this will prove to be a fave. Soft brush, applies fine, but definitely seems to have taken a little journey.
@voteoften: Nope! Sometimes the mascara will transfer to the browbone if I'm working hard but typically I just apply it very carefully in coats, like paint. Not all at once. Looking down into a mirror in your lap helps me the most, it keeps your lashes extended outwards and away from your face. Stay in that awkward position while it dries, set your makeup with eyes closed, and you're solid. May not work for hooded eye shapes though if that's a contributing factor, I'm pretty useless with hooded eye advice!
@damnscenekids:
Thanks. I think I'll stick with tubing ones anyway. It is impossible to get smears once dry. When you wet them, the mascara slides off the lashes.Beautiful eyes!! Thanks for all of your suggestions in this thread. Always wanted to suggest wife something for cosmetics and will pass on your suggestions and hope she will try something new like Estee as she uses Maybelline now.
Each brand has hit and misses, it really depends on what you're after eg. False lash look, natural with length etc. Also what lashes you have eg. Stubborn short lashes
Covergirl clump crusher has a GREAT brush, definitely that, and also the Rimmel lash extension range is really good for length too.
I recommend MAYBELLINE Lash Sensational Mascara or lorel telescopic!
I personally love the L'oreal lash architect mascara I have really sensitive eyes and wear contacts and find it great. It doesn't go clumpy and also doesn't flake, lasts all day for me :)
Max Factor False lash effect if you want ….well…false lash effect. No clumps, no panda eyes and works well with my short lashes.
Wow thanks girl!!
Yes for covergirl clump crusher!! I kept an old empty tube so I can use the brush to pre fan my lashes and then fan between coats as well, honestly so worth it especially on sale. Thanks for including your experiences with dud purchases as well - it's super valuable knowing what isn't worth your time.
God.. Thank God I'm male.. I sympathise.. have a +ve..
I don't understand why these comments from men are necessary, tbh. Such a difficult life we women lead, having an enjoyable hobby.
Sorry blame my ignorance as i can't relate to this.. I'm glad you've found something you enjoy, I personally do not enjoy cosmetic shopping, or grocery shopping, or clothes shopping, or shopping in general, life's complicated as it is..too much choice does my head in..
@2real4u: Neither, shopping sucks. I've just bought and seen reviews for enough stuff to leave a comment hopefully to help others wade through minefield sales like this one.
Have you got normal/dry skin?
I tried both the bourjois healthy mix and L'Oréal true match but I found both really transferable and it was all off within a few hours :(Nope, oil slick. I just mentioned it cuz it's a top recommendation from so many people. I don't like L'Oreal true match, it was my go-to for a while before I discovered my one true love, NARS Sheer Glow!
Are you using a primer and setting spray? I use true match and I have slightly dry skin.
Yep. I was using Smashbox primer (oil control, green tube) before switching to the NYX green concealer (basically a drier formula dupe that costs a fraction of the price). NYX matte finish setting spray is amazing for $10 when it's on the 30% clearance price at Target, too.
Thanks so much for all this info. Very useful!
you should start your own blog!
any recommendations for dark under eye circles? something natural, skin: brown, oily
Thanks! I've only ever heard good things about NARS creamy radiant concealer (minus its pricetag). I'm pale as it gets with a neutral/yellow undertone, and I only just picked up their shade 'Chantilly' which I'm super excited to try. This is a weird recommendation but if the "medium" or "dark" shades of the NP set concealer are available in your area, 100% swatch them and try them out. It's a seriously, seriously underrated concealer. Great consistency, high coverage, doesn't oxidise or separate at all. NP set is being widely discontinued (because most of their products plain suck) and the 'light' colour is perfect for my undereye circles paired with Face of Australia translucent loose setting powder. Two products that are never talked about in beauty circles that I love so much!
Woah $40 each - so nothing for my mug in this priceline sale?
I will still try and hunt down the two you recommended.
@havok44: NP set concealers are like $10 at the clearance price, concealer's one area that I'm supremely picky with though. Loreal true match concealer is also good, I used that for ages but wasn't keen on the weird applicator.
The maybelline fitme concealers are great dupes for the nars one.
Does this include fragrances?
Doesn't look like there's any fragrances included in the Instagram picture post so I'd assume no
Priceline has 4 main groups of products and 40% sales.
Cosmetics/makeup
Skincare
Hair
FragrancesIf unsure, if you go to the website, hover over "cosmetics"
In short, no, fragrances are not included because it's not cosmetics.
Does anyone know if the real techniques brushes will be on sale?
They're usually not - I have tried before
check out iherb.com! they have authentic real technique brushes for much cheaper :)
If you have normal/combination/oily T zone skin I would recommend the L'Oréal infallible matte foundation!
They also have L'Oréal infallible stay fresh too which is good for normal/dry skin - and even combinationIt has an awesome staying power
anyone know which brushes (if any) will be included?
I'll be stocking up on basics such as lip liners, brow gels and australis velour lips, they aren't too drying on me with a bit of paw paw underneath and I love matte lips with bold colours! I'm sure I'll get caught up in the frenzy on the day & will end up buying more things :)
Now to find a Priceline that actually has stock of what I want. My local (Greensborough, Vic) is absolute crap.
Tip - If you live in the suburbs and are a regular, what I do is go in the day before the sale and fill up a basket. Next day drop by the checkout, saves time and you'll avoid those just browsing!
My Recommendations:
NEUTROGENA Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover 112 mL
BURTS BEES Lip Crayon 3.1 g in NapaWhat concealer do you all love?
Maybelline's Fit Me concealer and their Instant Age Rewind Eraser concealer are both super popular as far as cheap concealers go. I've been using Fit Me since the last 40% off sale and it covers my undereye circles better than any other brand I've ever tried from Priceline/similar.
good deal ! Thanks
Thanks
Coles have Maybelline at 50% off from Tuesday would be good to compare prices.
Just came back from Coles and there's no 50% there
sorry it's in the new catalogue which starts tomorrow.
How did you know this was happening?
Bioderma is NOT on sale :(
bioderma is skincare :)
Thanks!
Bought an Opallac at home nail gel kit which I've been eyeing for a while (down from $99 to $60, not available cheaper elsewhere that I could see) and a bunch of top-ups. Forgot to buy mascara online though so I'll have to brave the crowds at some point today which I'm not looking forward to. Priceline on a sale day = insane.
If you want a list of all the girl's on ozbargain, just scout through the positive votes!!
You get what you pay for with cosmetics.. A lot of the Priceline items on sale are "ok", and there are a few bargains. But for the real quality items you have to pay $$ for it and it won't be stocked @ Priceline.
Value for money on the Nude by Nature brushes (set of 7) - was $39.95 (now $23.97).
Sold out online - in store only.
Forest Hill VIC has several.
Heathmont VIC sold out.Yikes, lucky I'm married to someone who never wears make-up with a perfect complexion. SPF (or better still stay out of the sun) and plenty of water is the only way to go. Once you start wearing make-up you will ALWAYS have to wear make-up. it does all sorts of stuff to your skin that will require… you guessed it make-up. Massive industry!! Now I can get off my pedestal. Neg away ladies LOL.
PS: She still takes ages to get ready. Can't win :)
I don't wear makeup either and you could say this but i'm also in my early 20s.
Everyone's skin is different….Also, makeup is FUN. I still love reading about it etc. It isn't a superiority issue.
Not sure if this has been mentioned (this thread is so long!) but you can get this special PLUS 6.70% cash back if you shop via cash rewards!
Male here. Any skincare recommendations? Thanks!
Skincare isn't included, only makeup this round! the 40% off skincare sale happened pretty recently so won't be on for a while :(
Ah I see, thanks!
Just so people know, coles has 1/2 price Maybelline and Garnier if you're looking to get anything from those brands.
