MARCH15

What an incredible price for a 128GB card. Please note you need to create an account to be able to enter the 15% off coupon (MARCH15) at checkout. If you choose to check out as a guest, you will not see this option. And for those that haven't heard of Rakuten, fear not. Rakuten is a Japanese electronic commerce and internet company based in Tokyo. Its e-commerce platform is the largest e-commerce site in Japan and among the world’s largest by sales (source Wikipedia).

From the comments below, the read/write speed of this card seems to be in line with that of the Samsung EVO U1.

  • I used the code 15ARSEMARCH and it worked! Thanks! 😏

    • i think it has expired :(

      was it same saving?

      • +3

There was not this code. It's just not the same without an ARSE related code to get you in the mood.

        • +5

          oh i see…

          … you enjoy that

          Oink.

    What's the speed on these?

  • Click on go to deal and you will see.

    EXCERIA microSD M301 card series

According to the Toshiba website, the max read speed is "Up to 48 MB/s" and the write speed is rated as UHS Speed Class 1 (U1), which is minimum 10 MB/s.

    sauce

So this has comparable to the speed from Samsung Evo deals, which are rated as class 10 and have the same minimum write speed

Thanks. I've added a comment in the post for clarity :)

      That link is misleading 😉

there's a 1 in the u shaped logo so we know what the min speed is ….. if it was better then they would specify and charge accordingly….. so it's not reviews it's what does the manufacture classify the speed as.

  • I have the EVO 128gb in my Samsung galaxy phone that I bought at the start of the year (~$70) and the A1 SD Bench app reports the write speed as 17.86 Megabytes per second (MB) and the read rate as 36.50MB per second.

Given this and what others have posted as benchmarks, I would say the EVO is probably faster in (sequential) writing than this Toshiba, but slightly slower on the reading.. At the price however if you need it for a phone or tablet for taking photos etc it would be hard to find anything at that price (yet).

Pictures the future 3 years from now where pcbyte has 128Gb SD cards for $20 with free delivery …. aaaaaand back to reality.

  • seems a good deal to me, bought one, wonder how long it will take to arrive though

  • Should there not be any VAT due to export?
"VAT is a tax levied on goods and services consumed in the EC. When goods are exported they are ‘consumed’ outside the EC and to impose VAT on such goods would be contrary to the purpose of the tax. Therefore, the supply of exported goods is zero-rated provided certain conditions are met."

    • You're correct, the 20% VAT should not be levied if it's exported out of the UK. That said, most online companies still charge it anyway as their purchasing systems aren't set up to deduct it (or they've decided the system upgrade isn't worth it and pocket the VAT for themselves). Your final invoice probably reports £0 VAT so they're not violating any HMRC regulations as you're agreeing to pay 20% more than you should when you click and purchase with them online.

Amazon UK is the only major online company I'm aware of that will deduct VAT for UK export, free to add to the list if you know of any other large companies that will do so.

      • Start fitness removes vat too.

Wow, 128GB is cheaper than price of 2x 64GB @~$24 combined! Times are changing, bring on the 512GB mSD's & a strong AUD back on the board!

  • Btw the title of deal is wrong, as is the Rakuten listing, this is the Exceria model, not Exceria Pro which is faster model!

  • I am thinking about buying one to replace a Samsung Pro 128GB I bought from ebay for $70 which was faulty in my phone. That is why I didn't grab the first Amazon/Sandisk 200GB deal, and I missed the second one which was only alive for about 8 hours a few days ago.

The Samsung Pro is their 2015 card, one of their fastest, Write Speed up to 80MB/s, now their 2016 card says 90MB/s.

I just did a CrystalDisk test on it anyway (now it is in my PC) and I got a lot better speeds than this cheap Toshiba card, see here: http://www.evernote.com/shard/s3/sh/1751fffd-9275-42ca-8e6b-…

12.32 MB/s sequential. I don't know how important 4k is, but this Samsung card blows the Toshiba out of the water.

I just don't know how much it will matter seeming it will go into my S7 Edge to store all my VR porn, and computer based training videos.

… to store all my VR porn, and computer based training videos.

      Aren't they the same thing?

      • +1

Since my last post, I watched the first VR porn clip with the headset that arrived today. Then I ordered 15 of these Toshiba cards :D

Just joking, I ordered one. This price is amazing, thanks TA

  • I think this deal is expired. When I apply the code it charges £ 26.59

    • Same here, they increased the price….

    • same

    • I didn't manage to buy mine last night due to a system error on their end that doesn't accept @ymail as an email.

      Error on payment was:

"There is a system error with your order. Please try your purchase later.”

In case anyone comes across this problem and misses a deal like me due to an error.

  • Any one received their order yet? Still waiting for mine.
