  • Screw them all.
Get a business notebook for business. These prosumer laptops are junk compared to what you can get from the business notebooks these companies make.

HP Elitebook 1040 G3 is an amazing machine with a long battery life.
Dell Latitude 14 7000 series is another good one.

Lenovo Thinkpad T460s or the T460p are both fantastic workhorses. Lenovo is probably the best when it comes to customising your laptop to your needs and including high end hardware in their business line.

Find the one with the specs you like the most and BUY BUY BUY!

    • Thanks cDNA, I will have a look at those laptops

    • Unfortunately those laptops are quite costly. Would you recommend any mid rang business laptop around 1.5k with 256gb SSD at least?

I always had the impression that the X1 Carbon is a business class machine. Am I wrong? I always thought it was the X and T series that were their serious business notebooks.

      • The X1 carbon apparently had some QC issues

but yes, the X1 carbon, as to it's namesake, is constructed partially of carbon fibre (the top lid) and the bottom half is magnesium / aluminium. So it's supposed to be a fairly rugged machine. But partially because it's so thin I don't think it can ever be as rugged as Lenovo's flagship T/x series.

That x1 carbon you linked is last year's model. The X1 Carbon Gen 4 has been out for a few months now.

        • Thanks for the input.

  • Second the Lenovo Thinkpad T4XX series … been using Thinkpads since 2007 … X30s, X300, T440s and recently the E460. Apart from the last E460, the T machines are amazing; tough, durable and in my opinion reliable work horses.

*Never used any other brands before except Apple MBP (which is another piece of art)
