Bought Intel 6700k Processor. What Is Next to Build a PC?

Willing to build a desktop for photo/video editing and play few game such as Rise of Tomb Raider and GTA5.

I have bought the 6700k intel processor, what should I buy for remaining items to build a PC that can run those software/game smoothly?

PS# I already have monitor (Dell U2711) and 512gb SSD + 2TB harddisk.

Thanks

You might want a 3d printing machine to build your CPU. Depends how detailed your sketch is I suppose. Perhaps have a chat to TSMC or Global Foundries.

Seriously though, you will want 16GB Ram at least for your video editing and a GTX970 or AMD 390 for Rise of Tomb Raider.

I assume you already have a case, keyboard, motherboard, mouse etc.

  • You mean from scratch?

The intel 6700k processor is the cpu.

    Build your computer here:

    https://au.pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/

It's a really fantastic side for your diy project. I've certainly used it many times. It also shows your if the parts are not compatible with each other.

Motherboard, RAM, Graphics Card, Power Supply, Hard Drive(you have), Case, After-market CPU cooler, Internal Fans. Match the motherboard to the CPU mount, match the RAM to the motherboard, get the best GPU you can afford, get a big enough power supply to feed your parts. Make sure your case has same type of usb ports as your motherboard ans is right size for your motherboard and gpu. Keyboard, monitor and mouse are not technically the computer, they are accessories/peripherals , but necessary if you want to use the computer.

      That's pretty much it.
OP, the CPU uses an LGA 1151 Socket, so make sure the motherboard is LGA 1151 as well. Fairly sure most motherboards that support LGA 1151 support DDR4, so try and get DDR4 instead of DDR3. And as I mentioned before, go on Whirlpool.
