Please note: As of June 2014, our friends at GameSpy ended all hosted game services, which affects the online multiplayer aspect of this game. Because of technical challenges and concerns, we do not have a solution to keep these services up and running at this time, and online services for this game and other EA games on the GameSpy platform have ended. We are still investigating a range of options to restore official online functionality and multiplayer gameplay for these titles.
You can find more information on this change at ea.com, and find the full list of impacted games on our Online Service Updates page.

Strange, I thought tightarse posted this a while ago. And it generated so much discussion about posting deals with uncertain starting dates.

    • +6

The difference is that the offer is now live.

      • No. The other post got 100+ votes.

If this was the case we would have one Woolies post for a start in the future and then another one on Wednesdays when the offers are actually live. I do not think that this would be very helpful.

        • +2

The difference here is that TA's post has been hidden by Mods. Therefore a new post is in order to let people know of this deal, no? :)

        • @MiniMoo:

The difference here is that TA's post has been hidden by Mods.

exactly this. TA's deal got wiped because it was "coming soon" for over a week and even after the mods tried to get clarification as to when/if it was ever going live they got nothing so shut it down leading the way for minimoo to claim glory with posting the "dupe" (that isnt a dupe)

    • I tried to find that post but it's no longer listed/searchable. I guessed that it was hidden by Mods after the controversy over how long a "coming soon" is a valid deal. So therefore I have made this post.

      • +1

It was taken here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/239068 and was taken down with the description: "Coming Soon" didn't happen in > 1 week

        • It should read:

"Coming Soon" didn't happen in < 1 week

          Less than.

        • +1

@sween64: i think they mean "it didnt happen in over (greater than) a week"

  • +1

    Thanks

  • +8

Too right the other one got taken down, it was a joke that it stayed up so long in the first place.

    • exactly
it only stayed up caus it was a TA post, anyone else and it would have been down much faster. mods on here constantly break their own rules to keep his deal count higher than it should be to stop him dummy spitting.

      • -3

Fair enough too. TA makes this place what it is. If he and two or three others stopped posting there wouldn't be much left.

      • +2

And I notice Tightass hasn't voted positively on this deal… If he thought it was such a bargain that it was worth posting…

        • yea that is no surprise… its not benefiting him and he dosnt get paid for deals he dosnt post here…… specially ones that go against his post count… :D

  • Thanks OP

  • It got wiped on thursday.

  • Does anyone know when the Origin Spring Sale starts this year? It must be soon? I'm hanging out for Dragon Age: Inquisition GOTY…

Just wanted to chime in and say how good this game is.
Of course it is over 10 years old now, but it has got to be one of my childhood favorites. The graphics, I think, are beautiful. They have achieved an excellent recreation of jungle scenery. The shooting mechanics, pacing, sound and music design as well as AI are among the best I have seen in a game. The squad mate characters are also pretty good. The detractors I guess would be that the balance between humanism and american patriotism is a bit askew here, but they certainly manage to capture the american troops as regular people in bad circumstances.

    • If you're a fan you should also check out Medal of Honor: Allied Assault War Chest.

Just a tip: All you need to do to add the game to your Origin account is log in and then click on the Download Now button. Once the window pops up to tell you that you need Origin to download this game, it's already been added to your account and you don't need to do anything more (unless you actually want to play it now!)

You can verify that it's been added to your account by going to My Account > Order History.

    • good tip, thanks for that

    • But you still need the Origin client to download and play it right?

I did as you suggested and it worked, but I'm still going to have to install Origin to access it?
There seems to be a bit of hate towards Origin?

      • Yes, you'll still need to install the Origin client in order to download and play the game. The tip is just to let people know that there's a quick and easy way to secure the deal before it expires without needing to download or install anything (until you actually want to play the game).

I think the majority of hate towards Origin these days stems from the fact that it isn't Steam. Not much EA can do about that :)

        • origin seem to have limits as to how many devices you. an have your account on , 3 I think, and steam is a bit more generous …. my son has a PC at my house one at his mums and a lap top when he visits friends so it's maxed out and if I upgrade one I need to reset login and
          assured on all of them.

steam we have on 5 devices, just add to your account and play on any of them ……

And both systems restrict you to only one active login at a time or the passwords need to be entered in again.

  • Failmid is trying to flog it off as if it's them organising its freebie status lol :')

Already knew about it, thanks to previous listing.
'See a deal, post a deal' sounds fair to me.
Was hardly brain-surgery - Full disclosure was given.
Sit & F5 until it comes-up, until you're allowed to share it?
Makes me ashamed to be at OzB, when I see all the hate towards a deal-poster.
Without deals, there is no OzB… so if all you offer is a turd attitude, you're only ruining the place.

    • +1

No that's not the point. How much time did people waste checking the site for the past week?

      • -3

Sounds like a refund is in order. Consumer rights!

Any 'point' that you prefer doesn't dismiss my own experience and preference.

Alerts, pre-alerts, heads-up… They're a waste of your time? VIP, indeed.

        • Kids or cowards? No valid points, just sniper negs.

  • Cheers..

  • this is the only one not to come out on consoles right - guessing it dos not scale up to 60 FPS ?

  • +1

39 games in my Origin library. 33 of them free. Thanks, OP!

  • cheers!

  • -8

You have to download the Origin spyware in order to download the game. You know like malware guys used to do.. before it became mainstream.

  • Haven't play any games for quite a while, but this looks interesting. So, can anyone please confirm?

    1. This is not an expansion of the MoH game and is playable on its own?
    2. Can I play multiplayer online with this version?
    • It's standalone and don't think there's multiplayer as above.

  • Tried setting up an EA account but the "Are you a human?" test fails for me. I'm entering just the letters, and trying the letters and numbers - but I guess I'm just not human…
