Ways to earn Passive Income / Spending in Assets

Hi All,

Like most of us I have been finding ways to set things up so I don't have to do this constant 9 to 5 work for the rest of my life.
Have been hearing about passive income a lot lately, and googled up to find many people are putting in their time and resources into this. I know this is what most of us wants, perhaps with the collective brain power we can find some new ideas.

Can you guys suggest any ways of making passive income, or how can we spend our earning into assets that makes money for us.

Examples :
Putting savings to a high interest accounts i.e, Internet Banks
Start a Blog, Money through Ads.
Rent out a spare room.
Rent any expensive stuff you have.

Starting a blog isn't exactly what I call 'passive'
Yes once you have the fan base it would be easy to make ad revenue but getting there and keeping the blog up to date would be difficult.

  • If you've got a good job and it pays good money and you have security in relation to that job, then you can go to the bank and you can borrow money and that's readily affordable.

Wasn't a popular comment at the time, but does have some truth in it.

    A good job might not be such a 9 - 5 grind.
Any serious passive income comes from shares and property - with borrowed money. (YMMV)

See also previous post Anyone care to share some solid PASSIVE INCOME ideas?!

    • Yeah have good job, Can borrow money from Bank too, but where to put it so.??. BTW dont have a house Yet, if i end up buying it than forget passive income i would be too busy just paying it off….

Definitely have a look at learning how to trade the stock market, it's a vital asset learning how to invest your money, then there is the avenue of property and business.

    • Learning stockmarket will he a whole new thing again, Its a very known one with Risk, I know more cases of people losing money, than gaining out of the share and stocks market.

Ironically, the people I know who earn a "passive" income actually work 9-5 - for the government. You still have to turn up somewhere everyday though and I'm sure some of these government workers may be exaggerating how easy they have it.

You probably noticed that all of your examples require significant initial investments (time, money or property).

Although I would feel a bit wrong doing the same, I know people who rent out rooms to international students near UNSW for ~$500 (i.e. without meals…).

    • Renting out property was good, but dont own one now.

  • The stock market is the best way to go. You can build blogs and get ad revenue, but it takes a very, very long time and alot of effort to get consistent traffic and interest. I have been looking for ways to make some passive income or find a genuine online job that pays a living wage for a while and can't come up with much. You have to be commited and make a start somewhere but it doesn't bring in much income at all unless you are very successful.

  • I think the best way to get rich quick at the moment would be to invest in ethereum. It's still only very speculative, by my god does is it have potential.

  • Thanks for the replies, but was thinking of creating some assets with the income that i make, Small profit is fine but sure shot. Also noticed the godammn job recruiters they make so much money, by just being the middle man and managing payroll.

Specially for contractors they take full money from companies and only pass half to the hiring contractors.
