Bali Tourist Visa question

I purchased the cheap airasia tickets ages ago but I plan to fly into Bali, spend a night there and then fly out to Borneo and then come back to Oz via Bali

do I only need to pay that tourist visa fee once or do I need to pay it twice since I enter Bali on 2 separate occasions (short trip so like 5 days between entry)

and will they only accept USD?

anyone know

Thanks

  • its now free for Australian passports.

    • +1

Not just yet, the regulation has been approved but is yet to come into effect. Some rumours suggest it is today, but I will believe it once Aussies report back. Immigration staff can often continue to collect fees and then claim they didn't get the memo.

  • When are you travelling? The visa could become free for Australians in the next few days. The regulation has finally been issued but is yet to come into effect.

The Indonesian Consulate in Sydney has been providing updates on twitter https://twitter.com/kjrisydney.

    • in June

  • I'm assuming you're going to Malaysia/Brunei ? Most of Borneo is still in Indonesia.. very few flights to the non-Indonesian part of Borneo from Bali

    • Yeah, good point. A lot of people think the visa is to "Bali" itself.

    • Malaysian Borneo.. sabah

      • Might see you there then.. I'm going there in June as well (via KL/Singapore/Johor)

  • I don't know the answer to any of your questions but, if you do have to pay, I believe visa-on-arrival in Indonesia is still single-entry only.

The visa costs "may" disappear this week but someone in Indonesia has to write it down "in the records" (https://au.news.yahoo.com/world/a/31136319/visa-free-entry-t…) first and remember to forward the memo… Indonesia does have an infamously slow bureaucratic process.

  • If the visa you are getting is for single entry and you are planning to leave airport on both occasion, you will likely need to pay twice or consider getting one for the multiple entry. If you are just transit on the way back to OZ, you'll be fine with single entry visa.

I couldn't find any reference that the visa is single entry visa. Transit visa seems to allow you to visit not just Indonesia but other countries as well (USD 15). IMHO, I would suggest just call up the embassy or consulate on office hours to confirm what is required.
