Inconsistent pricing in Dan Murphy Online and Offline prices

Recently found out that Dan Murphy online and their physical stores have inconsistent pricing. This week take for example in Perth, Hyde Park - Dan Murphy i bought a bottle of the Captain Morgan Spiced Rum for A$ 49.99 online from their website.

Funny enough my housemate told me it was $10 cheaper in-store, walked in today took a photo of it and indeed the offline shop was $10 cheaper than the quoted online price.

Buyers beware of buying anything online from Dan Murphy to check with the local in-store specials catalogue or go to the shop to check the price before buying anything online or anyone can suggest a spirits buying website that's better priced than Dan Murphy?

  • Same as buying beer. For example, sometimes, you can buy 2 VB for $79.90 but if you buy 2 online they will charge you full price each.

  • This is standard practice across the retail industry, online and offline. The reason is (obviously) people's sense of value is exceptionally malleable and they are prepared to pay more for the same thing in different settings.

  • I found this with Chemist Warehouse too.

  • Regarding the second part of your post, the Boozle website is highly recommended for finding the cheapest price on anything.

  • The in-store price may be different to the online price because that particular store is beating prices in their area.
