    Are replacement tonner pricey?

That usually the catch with super cheap printer, the consumbles are expensive.

    • +1

A quick google revealed OW price of $134.00 for toner.

      http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/samsung-mlt…

Its worth 4 of those printers lol

      • +2

Ebay had compatible toner cartridges for around $40

    • +5

Price of toner has nothing to do with whether printer's a cheapie or not. More to do with how long the printer's been on the market.

Plus buying toner from OfficeWorks and similar stores is your last option. Go online and and see if a compatible toner cartridge is available.

I'm unfamiliar with this particular printer so unsure if compatible and cheaper "clone" toner is available in this instance. Maybe others can help ?

      • +2

Fuji and Brother have cheap clone toner on ebay ($15-$22 each) depend on model. Canon, Samsung and HP have a chip on their toner so u can't buy a clone for it.

        • +1

Have bough generic toner for Samsung laser printer off eBay for $28 and works perfectly.

        • @wxyz234: great, which one is your model, i used one and it didn't work so i move to Brother and im happy with my choice

        • We've owned dozens of lasers over the years both colour and mono.
Among then have been several Samsung, Brother and Canon.
I'd buy a Samsung over a Brother based on our experience.
Clone toners for Samsung usually come with a replacement chip so the printer will work fine with it.
The regular toner cart. for this model is 3000 pages @ 5%, is available on EBay for around $30 and should therefore deliver a cost/page of 1c.
I don't see any issues with this.

PS. yes, some clone toners can be below Samsung standard, but you stick with the high volume toner sellers and you should be fine.

        • @rayski57:
Can you please share ebay link to buy toner for this printer (Samsung SL-M2835DW) for around $30? Thanks

        • I've bought generic toner for my HP LaserJet.

It was about $22 on eBay. It's still going strong.

        • @amsaini15: simply search ebay.com.au 'Samsung m2835' sort by lowest price+delivery

    • Always are, apart from eBay/aftermarket.

      It's not a charity ;P

Also… I hope people keep in mind the number of prints, quality, and all benefits over inkjet.

    • The 1200 page toner is included according to the officeworks comments

It is $77.00 to replace or 135 for the high volume, or many alternatives posted in comments.
      http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/samsung-mlt…

apparently you can refill them yourself for $10.00 according to this video (USA)

Anyway let me know how it goes :)

If you choose the self-refill option and haven't done this before here are a few words of caution to save you a lot of grief….
Toner is carcinogenic, don't breathe it, get it in your eyes or on your skin.
If you do end up with it on you DO NOT wash with HOT water (toner is set by heat and pressure). Wash with COLD water & soap (wash eyes with just water).
Even if you are unable to print with your old toner before refilling, beware there may be a lot of old toner in the cartridge when you open it up.
If there is the slightest air movement this micro-fine powder will end up in and on everything within close proximity.
If your cartridge has an integrated photo-sensitive drum, be aware this needs to be protected from light (& damage i.e. scratches etc.) while it is out of the printer unit.
Clean everything well before reinstalling in the printer.
Proceed with extreme care until you have personal with the refilling process.
There are many instructional videos for this procedure both generic and possibly for the specific unit on Utube.

I found one compatible toner St eBay for $35-ish.

Just search the model number and word toner and you get your result.

    • Careful with that toners, read the reviews before buying it. As I know, HP, Cannon and Samsung have chip on their toners so you can't put a clone on it. Or u will break ur printer and avoid warranty as well. I already did it before, lucky the guy at OW said he will pass this time and gave me a new one.

      • A clone that needs a chip comes with a chip. Otherwise you didn't buy a working product. It doesn't "break" your printer. Putting a chipped cart back it will work perfectly. The seller is the only problem there.

    • -1

But for $35 each toners, i would buy another printer for $30 lol

      • +2

The printer might not come with a "full toner" :)

Buying in eBay is safe. If it doesn't work you can return for free and you get your money back.

I have bought many times on eBay, all but once they worked and the seller offered free return and replacement.

Sometimes the print quality is not 100%, but when printing documents I don't care.

        • U right about refund on ebay. But as i said if u use clone toners with samsung, it may broken your printer and OW will not accept for warranty. Only Brother n Fuji accept clone toners, I have some printers in the past (HP, Canon) and it didn't work and broke my printer as well

        • @ZombieLover: I think you need to be a little smarter than that. It's a printer, not an international space station.

You have legal rights. Printer companies have been slapped for spreading fear and saying otherwise.

Careful, the left-wing green hippie recycling squad will be in here bitching at you shortly for that comment! ;)

        • Or anyone who values prints/$, since starter carts come with 1/2 (or even 1/4) of the toner.

        • -5

@Utopian: At least that argument has a level of debatable merit…the other obvious advantages of picking up additional units at this price notwithstanding…it's just the preachy whining about the environment that makes hipsters come off all douche-y! :p

~$60 for two toners on ebay

  • A quick search found inkdepot http://www.inkdepot.com.au/samsung-slm2835dw-printers-printe… and I am sure there would be other sites available as well.

  • Pity it's only available in store. No go if you don't happen to be any where near an Officeworks store with it stocked.

  • This printer according to the specs has duplex print. Handy if you need to print 2 sided.

The problem is it doesn't say whether it's manual duplex or automatic duplex. Possibly for this price it might be manual duplex.

  • +5

At least it has wireless so we wont be hearing comment after comment about how the majority of people wont want it because its not wireless lol

  • Is it a dupe if it is mentioned in Treat86's post here?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/238607

Only reason I know it's there is that I went to Officeworks Midland last week after seeing that post, unfortunately couldn't get my hands on one..

    • Does not look like much stock available. Normally you type in a postcode and you will see stores showing limited stock. But getting the message Sorry, no stock of this item near this location.

    • Your correct on that - missed the post. Kudos to Treat86.

    Good Day,
I bought this printer 1.5 years ago when it was first introduced to the market, at the time I paid 100 USD so for today's bargain it's worth snatching it. It can be connected through WIFI or NFC which is more handy if you're using a mobile phone. It uses a 116 S cartridge model that is capable of printing up to 1000 pages. The printer comes with a cartridge already so you don't need to worry about toner for some time. Usually the 116 S cartridge costs around 60-70 USD, Officeworks used to sell it for 64 USD but lately they raised it ridiculously so we are buying them from online suppliers since then. For me it's very efficient and worth the money I paid for.

      • Well you have to keep yourself busy doing something in between games ;)

DOES ELIXE WORK FOR OFFICE WORKS.
    SOUNDS LIKE IT.

    • Sorry, what did you say ?

  • Now $15? But no stock available.. Can anyone recommend a cheapie for a small office? Black & white only. Only a few prints a day I'd say

  • can anyone suggest why a printer has just started jamming on every print?? It was printing fine the other day, then suddenly every single print job jams. Tried different paper, tried reseating the print tray, turn off/on again, it's driving me nuts!!!
