  • Wow, these are approaching gumtree prices! (especially with Kinect, I know it's pretty much useless, but hey, better than nothing)

  • -7

Failed to mention they are crap games in title

    • I'm sorry; Did you come here expecting good games on the Kinect?

  • +1

    Great price

  • Where does it say "with Kinect"? The product pages all say Kinect is sold separately. Am I missing something?

    • +1

Click the main link not the ones in post :)

  • -1

Which One (see what I did there?) comes with 3 games?

Edit, answered above, click main link.

  • How do these prices compare to Target, Big W deals? Specifically the Rare Replay option

  • Hi all,

Does anybody know when this deal expires?

I am almost certainly going to buy this deal, with the Kinect .

I won't have the funds available until tomorrow.

    Thanks,
    Rendo

    • You should be right it called march madness so I reckon will go for a few weeks at least. Got mine today.

With Microsoft talking about replacing the XBox One soon, I wonder if they will need to shift stock before they announce it, or if they only announce just before they release it… Whenever that is.

    • That's what i was going to ask. Is MS giving up Xbox One soon?

      • I would have thought the complete opposite: http://www.polygon.com/2016/3/1/11121666/xbox-one-hardware-u…

        • They confirmed no internal upgrades recently.

      • -2

no they aren't, only stupid people would believe such a thing

        • +2

They aren't giving up on the Xbox One, but they are entertaining the idea of creating more Xboxes, with support for all of them. Basically, what microsoft WANT you to do, is buy a new Xbox every 8 months, or change out the internals. They have said your games catalog will be linked over your account to all consoles however.

The "Universal Windows Platform" (UWP) will have all your games on no matter what you play on, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Two, whatever their next Xbox is. The UWP actually gives them a big headstart on Sony, as you don't need to buy remakes or ports of games in the generation shift…

So, in other words, they just want what PC already has. However it does mean that all the Xbone exclusive games will work on Windows 10 and vice versa, but steam games won't work on Xbox. They're trying to kill Steam and Sony in one fell swoop….. Trying, being the optimal word.

Fanboys on both sides here going "LOL GIVING UP ON BONE" and "THEY'LL NEVER GIVE UP ON BONE IT'S TOO GOOD" need to read more articles. They just want multiple xboxes in the market, likely different prices for different purposes, considering x86 apps are planned to be working on Xbox before 2017.

So, dear reader, if you were thinking of getting an Xbone, don't let any of this deter you, as Microsoft haven't even hinted at dropping games or support for the console :D

        • Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft's XBox division suggested the possibility. So I don't think people would be stupid for believing him.

        • @FabMan: thats not what he said at all you …, try listening to major nelson podcast where he had to specifically come on and explain to all the retards thats not what he said

        • @Makoto:

          I answered below.

        • @FrankMcFuzz:

Like it, but every 8 months is stretching it a bit.

    • Err latest gen was a massive shift in gaming and is only 3 years into probably a 10 year cycle.

There has been no massive steps forward (really) in CPUs or GPUs in that time.

If they pull out of Xbox one they pull the plug on gaming

And that's not going to happen

      • Yeah, but it's going to be pretty clear soon that the current gen consoles simply aren't going to last the distance. I'm sure you've read the various arguments but the upshot is the current consoles are struggling to keep up and it's likely to get worse. MS have started talking about upgrade parts, which I think has some merit, but goodness knows how they'll do it without fragmenting the community.

At the end of the day, I think people will be happier for shorter cycles. People drop more money on phones every 2 years, I don't see why this is any different, and your comment about pulling the plug on gaming is just nonsense.

        • It's called hyperbole mate.

If a AAA game takes a year to produce what do you think will happen to the quality if gaming hardware changes every 2 years? Zero optimisation. Bugs galore. Broken game.

The reason why consoles are "struggling" is because people are only willing to pay 500 bucks for them. It's pretty impressive what computing power you get for so little money, but that can only go so far.

So 2 yearly upgrade cycles? Yeah. Not going to happen

        • +1

Upgrading the consoles won't mean or do anything; they're fully capable of supporting the games, devs just haven't figured out how to optimize for the tech yet. The games need to get better before the console does; we've seen a lot of very pretty looking dull games in the last 18 months (COUGH BATTLEFRONT COUGH)

Also AAA games take much longer than a year to make. Well, they do if you're not just copy-pasting content from the last one ;) The only way to pull the plug on gaming as a whole is if they release ET HD Edition.

TBH, after the recent sales of the console, only a minority would be wholly upset if xbox fell through entirely and they didn't bring out another. But Microsoft are trying a lot of new ideas with it, and I'm down with that. The major question to be asked though, is "Are the games going to be any good?"

      • I wouldn't expect to see a new Xbox until at least late 2017 and even then that seems too soon

      • This year, AMD CPU's and GPU's take a massive leap forward, possibly right at the end, but still a big jump. Nvidia's GPU's are also going jumping ahead too.

    • Xbox 2?

      • +2

They're going to have a big problem after the 359th xbox.

        • They could always call it The New xBox…but surely no corporation would be so self aggrandizing! ;)

      • +1

        More like Xbox one 2

example: new games can be 4k 30fps ready but older xbox one would have to run at 1080p 30fps

when xbox one 3 is out is support latest game in full potential 4k 60fps, but xbox one v1 might have to run at lower spec to be smooth

similar to ipad, all software compatible as long as possible …… using unify software

        • But the older Xbox one cant run at 1080P that's the issue, I think they need to make a Xbox one 2 that can do 1080p at 60fps consistently and have the old ones do the 900p. It shouldn't be too much work for developers cos they already need to do the 1080p for the ps4.

  • Holy moly,
    $399 kinect bundle is good.

  • Would any shops price match this?

  • Thanks, just got the Xbox with Kinect bundle

  • The money you save on these bundles will need to be offset against the new hard drive required for more space. 500GB doesn't cut it.

    • +2

500gb is plenty of space or you can just plug in any usb hard drive if you're so desperate to install a hell of a lot more games

  • thanks for sharing, just get $399 xb1+kinect bundle

  • Thanks OP, got the kinect bundle. cheers

  • xbox stopped kenect support for ages now so I don't think its the best value, like your getting a Kinect but at the same time your not getting anything useful… I think the other xbox and a good game deal is better.

    • I wonder what you would get for Kinect & the 3 games $70?

      • but the kinectisnt worth much since theres no support on it… and the 3 games are those old bad ones… I rather choose a new AAA then a Kinect that wont be used and 3 average games.

        • Well I wanted to have some fun with my daughter and play some kinect games with her. I am sure she will enjoy the sort of games Kinect has and the fun factor. I rem playing the olympics games with my dad and having a lot of fun with him.

  • I didn't mean to upset the XBox owners by repeating what the head of Microsoft's XBox division, Phil Spencer, said. People should be aware of this before making a purchase though.

Okay, below is a link to where I read about it.

    http://www.geek.com/games/phil-spencer-suggests-xbox-one-cou…
    http://www.geek.com/games/microsoft-says-the-xbox-one-wont-b…

To summarise, Phil mentioned other devices get replaced regularly, like smartphones and they were looking into it for the XBox One. They won't expect users to open up an XBox One, but some way of updating or replacing it every few years.

Now before people start crying, it isn't the end of the world. It is an x86 environment using DirectX, which means the same game can easily be used on multiple versions of the XBox One, just like a PC. It can have different graphic settings, such as resolution, frame rate, draw distance, shadow quality and so on. Old XBox One's would still be viable and the newer models can support better visuals.

Also later this year, AMD and Nvidia GPU's are taking a big leap forward and so will AMD CPU's. Expect big performance in late 2016 or early 2017 from AMD APU's, Microsoft might want a new console using one of those.

    • +1

why are you even speaking nonsense?

listen to major nelson where he brings phil spencer on to explain to the 12 year olds what is planned

      • What he said in that podcast was like a politician, says a lot of words, no definite answer.

Related to this matter, he did state:
        - He doesn't embrace the big step forwards at the end of a gaming generation
        - That digital content he purchases stays with him over other devices
        - Wants to embrace hardware innovations making it available in the console space as they happen
        - Prevent having to wait 7 or 8 years for them

That was poor clarification to when he said "When you look at the console space, I believe we will see more hardware innovation in the console space than we've ever seen. You'll actually see us come out with new hardware capability during a generation allowing the same games to run backward and forward compatible because we have a Universal Windows Application running on top of the Universal Windows Platform that allows us to focus more and more on hardware innovation without invalidating the games that run on that platform."

Now the key part to this quote is backward and forward compatible. Please indicate what possible hardware innovations coming would need to be backwards and forwards compatible? Replacement hardware is where you need that compatibility. x86 platform is being used with DirectX, games can run across different hardware variations now without too much difficulty.

If it was just an add-on only device, or an external component such as HoloLens, he wouldn't need to mentioned that it is backwards or forwards compatible, as the software was designed to run on that platform. Only if he was trying to reassure gamers that buying games now will still work on newer devices, which is great.

Phil Spencer also said "We can effectively feel a little bit more like we see on PC, where I can still go back and run my old Doom and Quake games that I used to play years ago but I can still see the best 4K games come out and my library is always with me. Hardware innovation continues while the software innovation is able to take advantage and I don't have to jump a generation and lose everything that I played on before."

Tell me how are you going to play any XBox One game at 4K anytime soon without new hardware? An add-on GPU could help, but that doesn't help with other hardware demands such as CPU and RAM. So another device is needed.

He also mentions, changes won't require opening up the console. Why would he even mentioned that if there wasn't replacement hardware or at least external hardware you plug in coming?

Makoto, embrace change, it is coming to XBox One owners.

    • whats coming for Nvidia this year?

      • Process shrink from 28nm to 16nm. This reduces the size of transistors in the GPU, requiring less power to transition them, meaning, lower powered devices. They can choose now to make it run faster, and/or increase the number of transistors offering the largest boost in speeds since 2013 when 28nm was first used.

Next biggest thing is HBM 2, or 3D Memory. This greatly improves the memory bandwidth, allowing for greater speeds.

You also have NVLink, Unified Memory, Mixed Precision and HDMI 2.0a with HDR.

Effectively, the biggest jump in GPUs for a while.

AMD get the biggest jump because they go to 14nm in GPU and CPU process, being behind in efficiency this generation this jump will help them greatly. Doesn't mean architecturally their GPUs will be better though.

        • ive been wondering why theres been not much improvement lately. this explains alot

hopefully we can get single cards that drive 60fps at 4k ultra settings now

nvidia and intel are going down a path of dragging their feet to milk the most out of minimal incremental improvements

so nothing from AMD is going to make such a splash despite a smaller manufacturing process?

        • @furythree:

AMD and NVIDIA are doing pretty much the same in 2016 with big improvements, AMD get the improvements to their CPU as well.

Both AMD and NVIDIA don't actually manufacture their GPUs, other companies like TSMC and GlobalFoundries do. They weren't able to get 20nm to work.

        • @FabMan: did you say they got it down to 16nm which is better than 20nm? or are you saying theyve been trying to get it down to 20nm but couldnt get it to work thus the delay, but they succeeded with 16?

        • @furythree:

The second one, and I guess the first. 16nm is desired more so than 20nm. If they persisted they probably would have got to 20nm before now, but I read a while back they just cut their losses after delays and focused on the next step 16nm / 14nm. Well that is the story they put out.

        • @FabMan: that makes no sense tho, what is it about 20nm that would make it more difficult than 16

        • @furythree:

I just don't know, they won't release much info as to why they fail.

Though whenever they go down a process, say from 28nm to 20nm, they cannot use all the same equipment and methods, costs a lot of money to invest into the next step. Maybe when they saw it was getting difficult and therefore expensive they thought instead of investing into 20nm, they'll save it for 16nm? You can see both AMD and NVIDIA are still using 28nm after they first used it 3 years ago, also that this year they'll be releasing 16nm and 14nm while Intel CPU's have been on 14nm for 2 years and they be on 10nm early next year.

Anyway, check it out online, it is all there.

        • +1

@FabMan: thanks mate for the info

  • Anyone know who the Store shipping/courier with? I have a tracking number but it just takes me to the UPS site and says invalid
