Hey guys, wondering if anyone here has used a chinese android headunit and how it was? My friend got one specifically for his volkswagen off alibaba and was very impressed with it. Wondering if anyone's used one and how their experience with it was and which one to look for?

I got one and it was terrible.. The interface was OK (although laggy as anything) but although being advertised as a 2 din unit (with measurements), the measurements were slightly off and wouldn't fit with the trim. And when turned on, the quality of the audio was about on par with a speaker phone.
Unfortunately like most of these goods, the quality will be a mixed bag.. So if your friend got a good one, get the same one from the same place.
Most of the crap ones are single or dual core running Android 4.0 - 4.2. There are now quad cores running Android 4.4 that work well.
Eonon's are great. Can't fault mine in any way.

I had a volkswagen one as well and it was great. I think the trick is to find one that people over at XDA developers are using as they can sort out the annoyances that come with these kinda units. This is the one I had: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2110546 this one is fairly old now but have a look through that forum and see what they are doing with the more recent models.
Basically just want something running android. Also i'm weary about the sound quality. I'm running a decent sound system and need the audio output from the dac to be alright.
I haven't used an android unit, but have had three 2din units over the years. They are getting better, with the first one being very ordinary. The audio has been fine for a normal speaker setup but the software is the let down, clunky and laggy. Might be better with Android as you can upgrade/mod it easier than the old Windows CE versions.

Not exactly cheap (almost the same as the bigger brands), but people are very positive about them.
