Try now, changed it to regular link.
Thanks … used the regular link and got - "Your payment is still processing" "If your payment is declined for some reason, we’ll send you an email to let you know. You should then come back to your item(s) and try your payment again."
Never seen that before.
15 minutes later payment went through.
Maybe this asked:
How does this bx100 compare to evo 850 ?
normal pc user won't see any difference.
There is one thing that's not very obvious to people regarding TLC SSDs (including 850 EVO): they all have SLC cache to help boost the performance (especially when running benchmark software). However, once that SLC cache is exhausted, the real TLC speed is then applied. So, when that happens, the 850 EVO's burst write speed drops to 300MB/sec.
BX100 is an MLC SSD without any SLC cache. In short, if you want to copy a lot of large files, MLC drives are probably better. Though, in real life, it will be hard to have a source data coming in at 300MB/sec or above.
Thanks TA. Nabbed one.
TA - any chance of organising a deal on the Seagate 8TB Archive drive?
Don't forget 1.35% cashback from Cashrewards
Thanks TA. I've never used ebay with Cashrewards. Should I login to ebay first before clicking ebay link from Cashrewards site or it doesn't matter?
Start at cash rewards otherwise you get nothing :)
Hi dustynn. I've just created a link to make it easy for you. Just click it, hit 'Shop Now' and you're good to go. Do not exit eBay until you've completed your purchase, and ensure any adblocker is turned off before you start. You can log into eBay either before or after clicking this link. Makes no difference. Cheers :)

Any idea what's the average lifespan of a SSD? I just grabbed one to clone and backup my current samsung evo 250gb in case of failure. $98.65 after cashback + delivered is such a steal. Even the cheapest 120gb on static ice is $92.
Your EVO will be fine

Aside from the severe performance issues if it's an 840…
Anybody having issues paying via paypal? It says payment is still processing and then it fails
I have 'Pending' as a payment status also. My guess is that they require the group buy quantity to be satisfied before completing the payment… I've never participated in a group buy before so am unsure.
having the same issue. It didn't process in PayPal so I bought another one. Same result. Oops.
I did the same thing, tried it again after it said it failed. Now I'm not sure if I have two ordered…
I'm having the same issue, any solution?
@xabiso: I just rang eBay support and they've opened a case, citing a few other reports of the same issue.
UPDATE: Can confirm that I've been billed once and the amount has been deducted from my PayPal account.
@ctg: Got an email saying my payment was declined. Have tried again so will see if it goes through or not.
@Kookabanus: Failed to go through on Paypal on three attempts and received the email trice. Added a new card as a new payments and hola, succeeded on the fourth try.
@xabiso: same happened here. Some very weird stuff happened like my purchase was marked as paid even though PayPal failed. Succeeded on the third try.
I had the same thing when i purchased today about 3 hrs ago
About 10 mins after purchase I got the confirmation from ebay and paypal
Does the free standard postage/paying through paypal offer sufficient protection if it gets lost in transit?
Of course. It's up to the seller to prove it arrived, not for the buyer to prove it didn't.
That said, if it is incorrectly delivered AND somebody at that address signs for it, then you might have a bit more of a fight to get a refund.
Just combine Paypal and 28 Degrees Buyer Protection and you'll be OK.
Just combine Paypal and 28 Degrees Buyer Protection
Just combine Paypal with ANY form of Credit Card.
They have 6 months loss/damage cover like 28 Degrees?
helps to have confirmation. thanks
It's a sale via Ebay, so Ebay Money Back Guarantee applies initially.
You cannot claim under Paypal in this instance, until 30 days have passed (and no claim made via Ebay).
So, in fact there can be 3 levels of 'protection':
a) Ebay Money Back Guarantee (within 30 days)
b) Paypal Buyer Protection (within 180 days)
c) Your Credit Card.
Thanks TA, bought one
Are these any better (life and performance) or the same compared to Samsung and SanDisk SSD's?
Crucial (Micron) is quite big / popular in the United States. My personal experience with Samsung SSDs is bad (one died within 2 years - minimal use, the 840 EVO read slow down mess and the firmware fixes - which feel more like a workaround). Samsung 750 EVO is released (and while Samsung indicates that there is no 840 EVO like issue with 750 EVO, it confirms that 840 EVO does have a hardware issue). If you have 840 (non-EVO) version, you also have that read slow down problem and there is no firmware workaround.

I though it was only the EVOs that had this issue. Are you saying that problem also applies to the 840 Pro?
If so, do you know of a good link that explains it well?
840 Pro is MLC, which does not have the infamous Samsung TLC issue.
Samsung released 840, 840 Pro and 840 EVO. Samsung 840 was quickly replaced by 840 EVO. The Samsung SSD which died quite quickly for me was 840 (the TLC one). As for 840 Pro, I haven't used it long enough to comment on it. However, at the time it was launched, 840 Pro was topping the benchmark tests in reviews. In real life, I cannot really feel the difference (compared to the Crucial and Sandisk offerings at the time).
Topping benchmark is good marketing, but reliability and real speed (after the SLC cache is exhausted) are more important. The reason why some TLC drives have stellar benchmark result has a lot to do with SLC cache.
Thanks. I had forgotten about the old 840 "plain", as the EVO and PRO were what came to my mine.
Slower write than the 850 Samsungs. Comparable read. In most situations you wouldn't really notice a difference in normal use.
When you write lots of small files, the SLC cache in 850 EVO can have an advantage. Large files, you will see the true speed of TLC (and MLC will trump it).
The inclusion of SLC cache in Samsung SSDs does allow their TLC drives to get very good results in benchmark tests. The fact remains that MLC is still better than TLC. The use of SLC cache, allow those TLC drives to use the SLC cache to beat MLC drives (well SLC is better than MLC). The true TLC write speed for 850 EVO (sequential) is 300MB. When you see those stellar results, that's the power of SLC (cache).
Why wouldn't I buy the Sandisk SSD Plus for less? Aren't they technically the same?
The Sandisk SSD Plus is 240GB and this one is 250GB!
Cheers
Which makes the Crucial more expensive per GB.
Thanks TA!
Thanks TA ,bought one ,its time for me to jump on the SSD bandwagon
Cheers
:-)
Would this work in a 2012 MacBook pro?
Non Retina, yes.
If you are unlucky to be 201, it's $98 delivered at Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00RQA6TEI
cheers tightarse. purchased.
Estimated price of this in 2 years?
Never estimate IT consumables, then the only thing you will do is waiting…….
Problem is that I don't have much time in the within the next 2 years to make any use of this.
