The sizes on these things are getting ridiculous now.

  • Don't expect good write speed. I have the 32GB version of this drive. Write speed around 16MBps. Read speed is fantastic though.

  • Is it better than the PNY one? (not that I am after a 256gb one yet)

PNY used to be the better drive because of its fast write speed, but recently PNY have changed to a lower-quality build. The PNY Turbo drives now continue to fail, and there have been lots of 1 star reviews coming in.

So sandisk ultra is probably the best cheap 256GB usb atm.

    • i will strongly recommend to stay away from pny, my 128gb died without any error and all data in it is also lost

4 of them in a raid 0 would be great

  • Is it worth waiting for USB 3.1? Suppose to be even faster than USB3.. hmmmmm

The limiting factor in these USB's is the controller and NAND not the USB bandwidth, USB3 should be enough for at least 500 megabytes per second.
