Hi, my husband is due his long service leave around this time next year (if he takes it straight away). We are a family of five (three young boys) and would like to take the opportunity to do something ' different' if we can. As I will be taking unpaid leave we would probably have to work for part at of the time at least but happy to do anything. Would just love to hear ideas of what other people have done for some inspiration!

On LSL as we speak. Wife, 3 x small daughters, camper trailer, and swags travelling through VIC/NSW/QLD for a month.
First two days were hell until kids picked up routine. Since then it's been fine. Sending postcards back to school (when was the last time you sent a postcard?), posing in front of big things (banana, cow, pineapple, beer bottle - get your kitsch on!).Don't think about it - just get in the car and start going clockwise or anti-clockwise.
This plus lots. Been thinking about a 6-8week trip for us soon. I want to get to the top of Australia. Unfortunately a few things have got in the way over the last couple of years. Hoping for next year.
We planned another baby and took LSL to care for wifey and the baby, one of the best and fulfilling time in my life.

Depending on the company you may be able to cash them in and spend the proceeds on Eneloops…
