2014 called and said "give me my hard drive back" :-P

yep, dont know why these are even worth buying… I feel the same way about 2tb drives.

if you have a desktop or laptop, go buy some ssds… if you have need for big storage like a nas, go a 3 or 4tb drive

1 and 2tb is in no mans land

i have a pile of 500/1tb drives left over from nas upgrades

    • I've started pulling apart old HDDs for the magnets.

        Magnets? How do they work?

        • Very powerful magnets inside the HDDs, better than average fridge ones.

        • @nfr: buy super strong ones online from china and hopefully it will get past customs (sometimes they get confiscated… go figure)

Your needs aren't everyone's needs. I'd happily take all of those 'worthless' ($0) drives off your hands since you don't see any use for them.

I use a 1TB HDD for application and game installs. This totals a few hundred gigs. Once I finish a game, I uninstall and install a new one, never reaching the HDD capacity.
No need for SSD speeds or a larger capacity.

      • i second that.
i'll take all those 1TB hard drives off your hands if youre in Sydney pm.

i normally delete all my porn downloads before it fills up the 2TB disk lol

unless when you say pile you describe two drives in a drawer. lol

Blue for Boot, Green for Storage (3TB is the sweet spot). IF only they made the SATA connectors stronger (this goes for all brands), the plastic snaps far too easily.

    • +5

if you're snapping sata connectors you surely must be doing something wrong

    • +1

I've only ever snapped one in my lifetime!

bro. use your hands next time instead of your feet.

never happened to me. ive build and rebuilt many machines - most recent last night lol

      • But what if you have sausage fingers?

        • make sausages?

          find frisky girls?

          dont pick your nose?

          use sausage finger pliers?
