Got one from the last post for the S4 …can confirm its excellent quality and charges the S5 as well.

        Awesome! Thanks for the info

  • Looks like it will only fit iphone S4 or similar length phone, i.e. not my galaxy S5

    • Depends where the coil is positioned I guess.

      • my understanding is the cheaper QI chargers are more fussy on exact alingment

        • I actually have one of the cheapies from eBay - it is a little bit fussy, but the actual physical size of the pad is pretty small so it's kinda to be expected.

    • I used one with my Galaxy S5 without any issues.

      • good to hear; you use this exact model ?
And what brand/model insert to you have in your S5 ?

        • I'm guessing Flyeroz is using an insert so the position of the receiving coil is lower.

My Galaxy S5 is using the official replacement back plate cover with built-in Qi receiving coil, this is higher so it doesn't work unless you hold your mobile lower.

The Nokia Lumia 920 & Lumia 1520 work with the iPhone 4 charger, despite the 1520 being phablet sized.

        • @jeworge: thanks. I've got a cheapy ebay insert and charger, there was a fault with the charger that it drew over 2A and continually reset itself (seller refunded my money)

        • @effgee: Yeah I've bought a couple of the cheap unbranded Qi chargers off eBay. Puck-style one drew too much power and reset, the other rectangle one burnt out the micro USB port on first use, so despite online reviews I'd avoid them.

However all the other premium brand Qi wireless chargers have worked without a fault. Best ones are the 3 coil designs that allows for a larger margin for alignment.

I would say so far the charger for this deal is good despite the strange LED configuration and Bluetooth/charging modes.

        • @jeworge:

other premium brand Qi wireless chargers

          care to name them ?

        • @effgee: The following brands are ones I've had experience with: Zens, Freedy and Tylt use 3 coil modules inside for "free positioning", so that it does not require the user to place the Mobile Device in direct alignment with the transmitting coil.

        • @effgee: I just found the older Zens single model cheap on eBay if you're still looking . Been using mine for 3 years without a hiccup.

        • @jeworge:

thanks! I'm just unsure about the "UK adaptor part". I've had bad experiences with cheap adaptors.
What is the power input to the actual pad ?
And I wonder why the pad looks different to this one http://www.makezens.com/shop/zens-single-wireless-charger-bl…

        • @effgee: I've had no issues here using a plug converter.

Adapter output: 12v 1A (it uses a barrel connector rather than micro USB, like what Nokia did with their 1st generation pads)

It's a 1st generation model (I'm using). The current is a 2nd generation, major difference I can make out is the shape, LED choice and surface texture. The old model is glossy and scratches easily.

  • Wow, this one again, Blue Fox Sound Station and Wireless Charger $14 Delivered @ JB Hi-Fi and about 5 other deals if you search. They must have bought a truck load (and sold none)!

Given they are such a frequent flyer here someone must have a review….

The Bluetooth speaker isn't very useful as it requires you to switch between speaker mode and charging mode.

I leave mine on charging mode all the time. The LED only indicates the mode it is in, it flashes between a green and yellow in charging mode which is too bright for the bedroom. The LED doesn't change when it starts charging a device just continues flashing green and yellow.

Charging seems stable and strong, no issues (e.g. electrical, placement, charge rate, heat). Extremely good quality for the price (considering it's $4 claiming with Coke Rewards JB HiFi $10 voucher).

  • Eh… I bought the iphone5 one a while ago. Used it for a day. Wasn't great. The case is too bulky for my liking.

Anyone in Adelaide want mine for $10?

It works with the S6 if you put the phone on top-to-bottom. It doesn't work with the S7 in either orientation.

The location of the charging coil is here. The top of the "i" in qi" is 78mm from the bottom lip on the charger.

The iPhone 5 version works with the s6 the right way up. Haven't tried it with the S7 yet.

Thanks for the flashback to 80s predator vision.

    • Thank you I got an iPhone 5 one for my S6

  • 5s one should be more of a value to people now that Apple released an iPhone that is compatiable with its accessories.
