Need a Citibank Signature Alternative, Specifically a Credit Card That Earns Points When Paying a Bill?

Hi all,

Looking for alternative credit card that gives you points for B-Paying your bills.

Any suggestions?

  • In my experience, you pay via the credit card option and get the points or pay via B-Pay (from a regular bank account) and get no points. I don't know of any credit cards which give you a B-Pay option to pay bills.

    • Citibank Signature does… for the next 8 days..

  • Not really answering your question, but do you have the option to pay with a cc at the service provider's website? That isn't a BPAY function.

    • Yes, but then a Credit surcharge applies.

I am not sure if this helps, but many bills can be paid by Paypal/credit card via postpay https://paypaperbills.postbillpay.com.au/postbillpay/default…

    • I think this is only an option for post bill pay which is similar but a separate service to bpay.

    • Good idea, but out of 3 bills, only 1 could go through Paypal. But it's a start.

Citibank Signature card does not earn points when paying bills??

Oh found it - Transactions made via BPAY will not earn reward Points - 18 Mar 2016

Yeah that's it. I just assumed all CC's earned points when paying bills via B-pay. Maybe not! Is the Citi Signature the only one?

*Edit - ANZ offer rewards points for paying bills.. that's a start. Plus they offer 50000 points and no annual fee on the first year.

      Anyone find anything better?

Wife's CBA credit card(platinum? i think) also does not earn points when paying bills via B-pay.

My alternatives are Jetstar Master card (1$ to 1 QFF point) and ANZ Black (1$ to 0.75 QFF point) for paying via BPay.

But yes, Citi Signature was better for me (free annual fee for life & higher credit limit & 1$ to 1 QFF point).

  • I really didn't think that anyone would give points for BPAY. Because I cannot see how they could charge a fee and thus make anything out of it!! U need a UNi degree as well as Ozbargain to stay even slightly ahead of the game :((

  • Just touching base, anyone found a cracker of a replacement? If not, the ANZ might be the go.

  • Just a heads up Macquarie Bank credit cards, who also underwrite the Woolworths and Jetstar range of credit cards, will in future won't provide points for BPay payments.

    • Cheers, jetstar is out then. Another step closer to Anz

      • Are you paying an annual fee for your Citibank card?

        • Nope, no annual fee for life.

  • I was about to get an ANZ rewards credit card as well as I'm in the same predicament. Unfortunately I've found a link from their website that BPay payments do not attract points rewards…..

    https://anzrewards.com/public/info.aspx?name=faq#faq_23

Unless someone can confirm otherwise that it does work!

    • Which T&C are you referring to?

This one in your link makes no further reference to Bpay after the title?

"Why haven't I earned points on BPAY, gambling, cash advances and travellers cheques payments?

Reward Points and Bonus Reward Points accrue in accordance with the ANZ Rewards – Rewards program terms and conditions (call ANZ on 13 22 73 for a copy). Reward Points and Bonus Reward Points are not earned on cash advances and cash equivalent transactions such as the purchase of travellers cheques or gaming chips."

It doesn't elaborate on the Bpay situation at all. However this link definitely does suggest Bpay attracts points and has a link directly to their cards.
