  • This is like the best price since pre-christmas deals I think

    • $399 a couple of weeks ago.

      • +1

But value wise this comes with The Division whereas that bundle had like Ori, GoW UE, Rare Replay which isn't as good in my opinion. I'd def pay an extra $5 haha.

  • +3

It seems completely out of place that they're giving away a copy of Ted 2 with a console bundle. Especially one that comes with The Division or Uncharted Collection.

    • -1

Good movie though. Well Ted 1 was.

    • Agreed. Can a movie still be considered shovelware?

    • Feels like they are just clearing stock here…

  • +1

It may be possible to get further discount by using a discounted Wish eGift card to purchase the 10% off Big W gift cards.

    • Yeah you can.

  • Anything for wii u?

    • +2

      Maybe another Nintendo Direct broadcast?

    • Does anyone know if we're getting the new Nintendo selects range? (i.e. cheap versions of Pikmin, DK, Mario etc)
I imagine that would line up with this catalogue if we do

  • nice find op!

I think these new consoles should come with a disclaimer in Australia. Parents beware that these things need a heck of a good internet connection, the old ones are fine (Xbox 360, PS3) but man the Xbox One and PS4 are internet eaters. Even downloading a game can take the better part of a day or more if you don't live in an area with cable, NBN etc.

Australian internet just ain't up to scratch in so many areas, I think we can safely blame Telstra's monopoly for that.

    • +4

Fair comment IMHO, and the honest truth of the situation for many owners…imagine being a parent/child on Xmas day thinking you're gonna be playing games on your console out of the box, you'd be in for a rude shock indeed.

    • +3

Yes,monopoly is the right word. The same happened in Italy with the Telecom. They have all the Government cable under rent for more then 100 years at ridiculus price and sub rent to others phone company at not competitive price,so just kill the competitors.European community try to stop that with a big fine, the accusation was:Predominant position abuse(€103 million).Unfortunally them keep going.

    • Yup if you buy destiny look forward to a 30GB download, some of the small indie games I buy on PSN have patch bigger than the game itself that has to be downloaded separately. i.e. game data is 2GB and patch is 3GB for a total 5GB download, it's crazy.

Ingdirect cashback only limit under $100.

    • Buy $100 GC per Transaction to get 2% ING cash back.

      • T&C of ING mentions 2% cashback for paywave transactions UNDER $100 - technically a $100 giftcard doesn't fullfill the requirements (never tested it)

        • +1

yes, but the $100 giftcard costs $90, which is less than the 100 limit.
          I normally get $110 cards costing 99.

Also, last time I did this (got a 5 giftcards in separate transactions) - I was called by ING claiming it was unfair use of the feature. Her argument was would I do this if I was banking with any other banks?

        • +1

@Chivalry: Yes….yes you would. You'd also download a car if you could.

    • Shouldn't matter in this case.

The $100 gift card, will only cost you $88.20

I can say the Uncharted games are fantastic for anyone who is wondering, great story. Haven't seen Ted 2 only saw the first but it is extremely vulgar and tasteless depravity and to be honest; modern Hollywood trash. I can't imagine Ted 2 being any better. Obviously stick to the rating but I wouldn't even let a 15+ year old teenager watch it.

It's embarassing, and quite frankly just a bit insulting, that Blurays are being given away frequently in console bundles rather than another game. I can play that Bluray on anything; you think I'm buying a PS4 or an Xbone to play Blurays? No, I want to buy it to play games! Give me another game, or chop 20 bucks off the price and don't give me that stupid movie at all.

  • I played the Division for about 3 hours last night and I am very very happy with the purchase, its fun and challenging. PM your gamer tag as I dont want to go into the darkzone alone!

  • I'm keen to pick up a 1tb PS4 before Uncharted 4 comes out (May 10). Do you guys think it is worth waiting a little while to see new offers from EB/JB/etc or think this is as good as we'll get?

  • THE DIVISION IS AWESOME! /hype

  • Is PS4 1T edition a new model? How about 500G edition?

  • Lokoing at buying a PS4, I am not a huge gamer, and would only probably play a handful of games. Thinking about buying a 500GB console.

Would anyone sugggest the 1TB console for the ~$64 difference. Aside from the possibility of Play TV being reintroduced, I don't see any need for so much space.

I had a PS3 120GB with Play TV, a hand full of DLed games, a handful of installed games, and a fair big of stored MP4s (could have been deleted), and only JUST started to find TV recording space to be limited. Do games take up a lot more room on PS4?

    • Yes. They do take up more space. Not only that, but due to this new generation, even games that come on disc encourage you to install a fair amount of content straight to the console (usually by way of downloading.) Even for part-time gamers, which, let's face it, rule the majority of the industry right now, you'll probably need to make the investment in a 1TB, as games these days can reach upwards of 40Gigs, largely due to graphics.

To put THAT in perspective, that means just over 12-15 big games (So, if you subscribed to the notion of 2 or 3 of those crappy yearly games (CoD/AC/Fifa/Forza/Souls/etc) every year you'd run out of space in no time) you'll have run out of space on the 500GB. Not to mention PS+ gives you free games between 2GB and 10GB every now and then so you're going to end up pushing it really hard, regardless of whether you get a 500GB or a 1TB.

      • Not only that, but due to this new generation, even games that come on disc encourage you to install a fair amount of content straight to the console (usually by way of downloading.)

With the PS4 the entire contents of the disc are automatically copied to the console HDD then it downloads the massive patch. Unfortunately you can't delete the disc portion and leave the patch on the console so if it's a game you rarely play and you delete the game data next time you want to play you have to wait for the entire patch to download again.

Budget around 20-45GB per game title for the disc based install and then anywhere from 6-30GB for the patch you have to download.

I bought the 500GB PS4 then got one of these http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/seagate-2tb… then opened it up and replaced the PS4 drive with it and put my PS4's 500GB into the casing so now I have a portable 500GB USB3 drive.

On my PS4 I have 1.2TB of game install/patch on the HDD currently and a few gigs of captured footage I have recorded from my gameplay.

      • Thanks for the info. I suppose I should clarify.

When I said a handful of games. I meant up to 5.

And when I said I am not a huge gamer, I should have said "I am a very small gamer". The PS3 was 95% of the time used as a media player for an external HDD.

I think I only have about 5 or 6 (on-disc) games installed on the PS3 (had it since 2010), and never unintalled one, half of them borrowed.

And three DLed PS2/3 games. The remainder being 'mini games'.

All I really want to play is Gran Turismo and GTA5. I'm not an online gamer either, an unlikely to sign up for PS+ (Is PSN still free, or has it become like XBOX Live?)

        • +1

PSN is subscription now. They try to justify this by giving you indie games every now and then.

There isn't even a Gran Turismo game on PS4 yet (Which is surprising, considering the massive remake-fetish Sony has), and GTA5 is on PS3. If that's all you're getting the console for, then you can already play both of those games without spending $450 + game price. Wait until Christmas or E3 for a Gran Turismo 7 bundle sale, and you'll get a better deal.

Buying the console before the game you want comes out is how millions of people ended up with an $600 dust collecting Bloodborne machine. The game industry has had quick and frequent price drops on new products recently, and the consoles themselves don't deviate from that rule, so waiting even just a bit guarentees massive savings. I remember in Christmas 2014 you could get Titanfall for $9 in the bargain bin, which was apparently the generation's flagship shooter just a few months earlier. Cheap and cheerful is the name of the game.

          @FrankMcFuzz:

          Thanks for that.

I want to play GTA5 on PS4 because it has additional features (namely first person mode, and I want to get the full experience, as I've played enough of the previous versions).

And I am still playing GT5 (not even 6!) on PS3, Those games take a lot of (time) investment, and I have not heard great things about 6 anyway.

But you make a good point, I will maybe hold off. And with my limited time for games at the moment, I think that is a very good idea.

          Thank you!

  • Question:

If I purchase a "Wish Gift Card" from Cashrewards site at a 5% discount. Can I use this card to purchase a Big W gift card at a further 10% off? Thereby giving a total discount of 13.6%?

I couldn't find anything in the terms and conditions that says you can't purchase a gift card with a gift card although I am bad at reading…
    https://everydaygiftcards.com.au/media/static/Docs/wish_tnc.…

Here's the Cashrewards link to 5% off Wish Cards
    http://www.cashrewards.com.au/woolworths-gift-cards

You could then get the 2% ING cashback on top of this??…SUPER SAVINGS!

  • So is it possible to use the bigw gift card to buy jbhifi gift card?
