Just called the only store yellow is available in NSW and unfortunately they had 1 but someone else has it on hold. Ordered a red one nonetheless!

Yep - they've been sitting there all along, and referred to several times in the prior post (Target) on these. Get on 'em. (I haven't checked today but last I saw red and blue were in stock. Yellow stock arriving this week).
It might be insane but the difference between the UK ratings stamp and the Aus ratings stamp is about…a lot, in fact it's everything to collectors. Not every one buys these to play, they're buying them as a collectibles. The UK editions are not going to retain value any where near the Aus editions over time.
I don't think there's been an opaque yellow 2DS before, and yellow = pickachu, so my kids won't give a rats where it's fro.
That said, your point is worthy of consideration if you're a collector, keeping it in the box, and assuming it has a UK rating symbol on it like games do. I haven't compared the packaging - local v UK.

It was most definitely shipping to Oz when I ordered. Hopefully that hasn't changed. Did you get it sorted or still giving you that issue? Perhaps they've changed it now…

Sticking to Red and Yellow only personally. These are the core to a collection.
Hang on mate it's the UK version. Won't it be not compatible with games bought in Australia. And also have a foreign charger?
The 3DS no longer comes with a charger anyway from memory. UK consoles will also work with Australian games, at least for the physical ones. Both are PAL. You'd have issues if you imported from the US. Not 100% sure if digital content is region locked or not.
Pretty sure the 2ds comes with charger. I haven't opened my blue one yet and the yellow one from uk hasn't arrived. Both are for the kids.
Plug will be UK but you can pick up another cheaply via eBay if needed or use a 3ds one if u already have.
UK and Aust both in 'euro' region for Nintendo so no region issues :))
Probably even cheaper to get a UK > AU adapter and use the packaged charger.
