Coles Smart Buy Corn Kernel 400g Cans $0.60

130

I went to Coles Dianella (WA) to check out the $1 Leggo's pasta sauce, which was unfortunately sold out.
I spotted Corn Kernel cans at an amaizing price, and an idea popped inside my head to post it on Ozbargain.
Woolies Homebrand Corn Kernels is 89 cents according to pricehipster

Now before I get shot down, I want your ears to hear me out.
These are great if a zombie apocalypse occurs.
You could possibly make some money out of them when the famine starts,
and they're great in Mexican dishes.

As always, it might be available at your local Coles. Let us know if you do come across it!

        I'll pass, would rather pay slightly more for Australian corn.

        • Have a look at most, even brand names. They aren't Australian either.

          @PVA:

          I bought a big can of Edgell corn yesterday; on special at Woolworths 40% off ($1). Made in Australia

          Here it is:
          https://www.woolworths.com.au/Shop/Search/Specials?searchTer…

        • @PVA: I have looked, SPC, Edgell, Rosella…

          @Belistic: The Edgell ones have Australia map prominently on the front. It's their selling point. Their website says "Aussie grown".

          @WaywardOne:
          Spend within your means everyone.
          I personally buy Edgell to support Australian farmers, and for food quality standards.
          But these are great for ppl on a shoe string budget/students.

        • @Belistic:
          maybe corn is Aus, I dont buy tinned corn much but its hard to find Australian tinned kidney beans etc, and I do try,most are imported beans, maybe made here but the raw product is imported.

        • @WaywardOne:

          yes, "made" in Aus but where is it grown ? our stupid labelling laws will probably allow "local and imported ingredients" to be canned locally and slap on the Aussie flag

    At 60 Cents a can you could allways throw the can a the zombies heads to smash them

  • Not bad, you do get a few corn kernels in the water.

  • I sure could use a can of corn.

  • wow, corn in a can. What'll they think of next?

  • And can't we do a little better than creamed corn, creamed corn, and creamed corn? Please bring in more diverse food, children, or else Kenny's family going to have a pretty corny thanksgiving. (starts laughing) Corny! (laughs) Gravy! (laughs) Corny thanksgiving!

    Mr. Garrison

  • Drain water, rinse, blend to paste, stir in flax seed and some lime juice, roll thin on tray and cut into chips. Bake then sprinkle with seasoning while still warm.

    I belive I out manfooded the other guy lol.

  • Rather than buy the imports I just wait for Edgell on sale and stock up. Same with chick peas.
