I have the 3Gb and give it 4/5 stars.
It loses one, as I could not find an international ROM, nor a simple unlocker.
I did get the Google eco-system installed pretty easily, and changed as many of the Chinese defaults as I could. However, I still occasionally receive messages in Chinese (about joining Mi Cloud, etc) and I can't get rid of other random Chinese apps (all helpful and not harmful I'm sure).
This would be perfect with a Miui Global ROM, or even just cyanogenmod rom.
Not a knock, exactly, but having the Sony T2 (6") w/reg HD has meant I have a battery life that's days long…I think that the push to entice with 1080 on a 5" screen is a bit of a hook. It also eats battery.
That being said- assuming this is a low price, I've heard good things about Xiaomi. Just wish these basically one-offs would always supply a frigging credit card/notes case— because most of the time, you can't get one (short production runs).
