  • Good to see Nintendo learn from their mistakes last month

Not quite, I think it may be a planned pattern of 1 month in store distribution, 2 months Nintendo Network. So we will be back to scrambling for Darkrai codes in May.

        uughhhhh

      • Truth. It'd be good if they just did a regular physical distribution every month, so these Pokémon would have a consistent collectability value. Oh Nintendo…

    • I wouldn't say it's a mistake. While it was a hassle to go in-store to collect the Mew card, did you end up going?

      • Yes, I managed to get 2 ;)

      • Everyday for four days because of the delay in getting the cards out to stores. Yes I ended up getting one but know many of my friends who missed out

        • There we go. It was a hassle but you went anyway for 4 days in a row. Very successful actually from a marketing and business POV.

The Mew promo event generated a lot of foot traffic at EB Games as intended.

        • @ronnknee:
          Didn't buy anything though?

        • @ronnknee: I went to about five stores to get the Hoopa and my partner one or two and we couldn't get one, keeping in mind those visits had to take place after and around work. Honestly, all it did was make me resent Nintendo, EB and other retailers handling of it given then were people here and elsewhere talking about how they grabbed multiple cards.

I got a Mew a month later, but I still wouldn't call that a great experience. There's much better ways they could generate foot traffic, such as working with retailers to use Street Pass Hotspots or similar to distribute rewards so that people need to visit a store still but aren't running the good risk that there's nothing to when they arrive.

Frankly, the promotion while appreciated from a reward perspective, only reinforced in my mind how primitive Nintendo still is when it comes to digital distribution.

Definitely no mistake, Mew was a huge deal. Nintendo always intended Mew to be extremely limited, it's been over a decade since anyone could have one, and the first time you could on any NDS games.

Thanks OP, would have completely missed this as I never check the forums.

  • +2

I was hoping to collect a Celebi card.

  • +2

    Oh, nice. Thanks.

Didn't even know this was a thing although I'm sure I would've gotten an e-mail EVENTUALLY.

Finished my Pokedex yesterday, but hey, nothing wrong with another Celebi. :P

    • Congrats!

I picking up my ORAS version again last month to finish my Pokedex once and for all!

Even though I have all the pokemon games, have never actually caught them all.

      • +1

        Thanks.

I was close, back in Diamond. But lost the drive when that game mysteriously disappeared…

But the announcement of Sun and Moon got me motivated to consolidate, trawl the GTS and catch. Now I have them all looking nice in my PC boxes. For OR, AS and X. When Moon comes out, I will finally get Bank and send 'em over. :P

But yeah, first time I've caught them all too. Would've felt better in the original games though, honestly.

Doing this for my son whilst he is at school. I have received the Celebi. How do I find a Pokemon Centre?

    • +4

In the nearest city or town look for an orange building with a pokeball symbol on it.

    • +3

I think you can just remind your son, he should be able to do it himself since it's available for the next 3 weeks or so :) Otherwise you need to find the next town and wander around till you find it.

This is what they look like:

      ORAS
      https://www.google.com.au/search?q=pokemon+center+oras&safe=…

      XY
      http://au.ign.com/wikis/pokemon-x-y/Pokemon_Centers

      • +1

Cheers. I found the centre. She says my party is full and to make room. I see his settings are on forced save. If I exit, I presume the game will save and he will be able to go in the game this afternoon and still be able to receive Celebi??

Edit: Found the save button. Now not sure whether to keep his game open all day or shut it down.

        • +2

The Celebi is available till March 24 so no need to stress too much :) just keep the DS on the charger and you can ask your son about getting a slot open when he comes home!

        • +2

If you are unsure if it saved properly, you can close the 3DS while its on, and it will enter sleep mode.

        • @garmibear:

          Will do, cheers

          @RAM010:

It's a 2ds, but there is a little slider down the bottom to put it to sleep.

The best nature for celebi is BOLD! Don't forget to save before you pick up so you can soft reset.

    • I didn't think of doing this, now I have to check the other legendary Pokes I got!

    • I thought the nature was determined when you use your code… is that not true?

  • EDIT - Downloads this time, how convenient! I thought it was still card based. whoops

  • +2

So much better like this for everyone. Cheaper for them as they dont have to print and distribute, and no more scalpers on ebay

  • Is it once per game cartridge or once per 3DS console? can I redeem it again on Alpha Sapphire if I have done it in P X?

    • +1

      Once per game cartridge

  • Go pokerman go

  • Are you guys playing the game 2x over (etc. x - y) or can your pokemon be sent around from game to game?
