$1 Dishes from 20 Melbourne Restaurants, March 5, 3-4PM Via Yume App

170

A few months ago, I discovered the Yume App. It's basically an app that is supposed to be for restaurants and cafes to reduce food waste by offering 50% off to customers to get rid of excess food they may have. Unfortunately, when I've checked the app, it seems to be the same venues offering the same thing daily.

Well, looks like they are pumping up their marketing and are offering $1 dishes from 20 hot restaurants around Melbourne. Before someone chimes in, the answer is no, not literally dishware but food items such as desserts mostly, some appetisers & mains. These appear to be one-off dishes for the day as I can't find them in their menus however this is a huge reduction in price for all of these items. OK, the deals:

  • Is there any benefit to having a referral code? It is asking for one on sign up.

    • Don't see anything in the app with a referral code. Might be a feature coming in a later version as well as all the eco coins.

      • Apparently it is if I'm invited by a friend in an invitation email. Is there the option for you to do this? I can PM my email address and we can see if I/you get anything.

        • The invite friends just sends a link to the app in the Google App store. That's on Android. I assume iPhone is the same.

  • Was hoping most would be in the CBD so we can get them all :P

Pope Joan's a winner, highly recommended.

  • Unfortunately, when I've checked the app, it seems to be the same venues offering the same thing daily.

    Maccas, huh?

    • Close. Half price pizza at a nearby pizza & souvlaki place.

    • or any fast food franchise really

  • This is part of Melbourne Food & Wine Festival

  • (in homer's voice) mmmm…."Burnt potato broth with steak tartare"…

  • sounds like ads of Yume App

  • +1

Just an FYI, they've removed and also added a couple of places to the list. There has also been an update to the Android app.

Rumi, Proper and Son and Emerald Hill Deli are gone.
Hawthorn Common, Green Park Dining and Spud Bar Windsor have been added.

Well, you know what happens with these website offers that are first come, first serve starting at a specific time. Let's hope they've stress tested their servers.

  • The app is having huge issues loading. Took a few minutes to get vouchers to load and venues don't seem to be ready.
