Kid GPS Trackers/Communicators for Australia Use

Hi all
Just wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a GPS tracker tag or watch to use on my 5 year old. Being 5 yrs old a mobile is too bulky but have seen tags and watches which work but not many reviews?. You can get the watches etc that can also listen in to his conversation plus send him messages, gps tracker and even alarms of different degrees but not sure of their use in Australia? Any advice would be really helpful.
Thanks 😄

You have trouble keeping track of your 5 year old?

this is what child leashes are for.

My Mum used to keep me on one of those. Best invention ever.

      • Kids are not pets. Never liked seeing a kid on a leash.

Then don't put them on your own kids. I think they're cute.

As much as the leash thing is awful (http://eyeonspringfield.tumblr.com/post/53106778946/this-lea…), it can at times be a necessary evil. I had to use them for a while with my twins who would otherwise run in opposite directions and, when on my own, I'd have to choose which one I wanted to chase after.

        • They're both small things you're responsible for.

I believe a lot of these use 2G mobile networks which will be shutting down soon.

    listen in to his conversation

Who is your 5yo talking to? Is he doing drug deals down the road or something?!

  • Backpack with a drink bottle, a snack, a toy, and an old mobile with something like https://www.life360.com/ running on it - they can wear the backback when out and about and saves you from having to carry some of those things. Along with that a simple bracelet with your name and contact details on it should they get lost and don't have the backpack.

Tracking a 5yo with GPS? OMG did you get the age wrong? A 5 year old kid should not be out of sight far enough to need a GPS to track him or her. can read his/her messages too? Bizarre!
My advice is keep an eye on your kids and look after them carefully unless they are not precious to you and I not suggesting they are not! Forget GPS tagging!

    • I suspect the tracker is for when/if the kid wanders off, rather than to let them roam free unsupervised. It does happen, no matter how good a parent you might be! My son (at the time about 3yo) tunnelled under the back fence whilst a friend was supervising. I managed to find him a block away. He thought it was a great game. Sigh….

  • Technology gone mad.
Just because it's available doesn't mean it's a good idea!
A tracker won't stop your 5 year old running in front of cars.

  • Some obnoxious comments on here.
Having a 5 year old myself, its impossible to keep them under lock and key, and eyes in them so would be interested in such a device myself.
Eg. When child at school, you entrust they will be safe and stay in school grounds, but gates are left open and kids could easily wander out.
I read recently that Optus had acquired some patent and was like a watch with interchangeable superhero covers, so assume might be on market soon

    • Obnoxious? No, it's called teaching your child what they can and can't do. Walking onto a road is something they can't do..

As a 5yo, did you get that far away from an adult?

      • I did all the time. I would wake up in the middle of the night and wonder outside, go exploring. I was quite fearless and it is something I see in my oldest now. Some kids stick close to their parents and others just love exploring a bit more.

  • Google search found this option for oz with monthly fees:
    http://www.tictoctrack.com.au/

Or this with one off fee:

Can't find details on Optus one

  • Hi guys, we have recently purchased Malak-e watch, what can I say Don't buy this watch, especially from ACME solutions, they are the ones selling it here in Australia, the watch was not doing what it meant to do, the battery drained in few hours while charged all day, the GPS location was all wrong, when I decided to make a complaint I got abused by Charbel and Mary (who run the show), after I have let them know that I know the rules and regulations they decided to send me another watch, which again is faulty and has no signal! I have paid close to 300$ for this product that's doesn't even work! Again I was abused and told that I had problems! Whatever you do do not buy from them, it a gimmick and doesn't do what it claims to do!!!!! Tactoc track is a lot cheaper and sim is installed inside the watch which makes the watch safer if the child was abducted, Malak-e sim is very easily removed! Also Malak-e ap (locations) don't really work with Apple! You have to log in with website to check the SOS location of your child! If you are concerned about safety I would definitely go with another brand, also everything is exposed like sim and charger outlet (which is poor design, it almost needs a cover to cover the sim and charger outlets) and if God forbid a tiny bit of water enters (for example when your five year old will wash their hands) your product would be toast (which make their claim of water resistant untrue) and if that happens they will not replace the watch and blame you!!!! My child was never near the water or submerged the watch in water at her private school and still ACME blamed the problems on me and said it was my fault after one day of having the watch!!!!!! BUYERS BEWARE of MALAK-E brand!!!!!'

  • Hi guys, like any product there are people that love it and there are people that hate it. There are people that are reasonable, there are people that are rude. Bad comments and nasty reviews by customers does not affect Malak-e as we are confident in what we are selling and give our customers 100% satisfaction guarantee. We are 100% responsive and fair in order to keep our customers happy. We have children of our own and we know how important and valuable they are and therefore we are striving to keep your kids safe!
