I've Created an App to Save You Money Eating out in Perth - Free to Download

Hey guys,

I've recently developed an app called Enjoyin with my team that allows you to view food promotions at cafes/restaurants/bars near you. It's a great way to decide where to eat and can also show you places close to you that you didn't even know existed. It's free to download and won't cost you anything unless you decide to take advantage of our exclusive deals, of which are only available to our exclusive members. Being an exclusive member only costs $2 a month, and redeeming just one promotion during this time will net you a saving. At the moment there are over 200 free, recurring, weekly specials, so there should be something close to you no matter where you live in Perth.

  • Just downloaded OP, looks good! One tiny suggestion is on first start load screen is the default loading apple icon hidden behind the o in enjoyin, I think would look better if customised. But thanks OP can't wait to get cheap eats. Must of took a lot of work to find all the deals???

    • Thanks for that, I'll get around to fixing it in the next update. It took a little while, so I'm glad you find it useful.

      • Do you research the deals yourself?

  • Great work. I'm doing an App Store rating for ya.

    • Thanks mate.

  • What do you offer that is better than entertainment book?

    • Hey, thanks for the question.

We're aiming to be a lot more dynamic than the entertainment book. We're in the process of implementing systems which let the restaurants chop and change their promotions on the fly, instead of being locked in for a certain period of time. Alongside this, allowing certain time based promotions, for example, at the end of the night to clear excess stock, large reductions in price can be run. Not only this, but carrying that bulky book around is inconvenient at the best of times, our app utilises the gps location of the phone to display the places closest to you, rather than irrelevant, far away deals. We also plan to implement a loyalty system into the app to reward users for eating at their favourite places.

      • hmmm I think the idea is good but I really think you need to make the 1st month free. For $24 a year I think people might want to see what the offers are like and the places available around them.

        • Yeah, we're looking at running various promos to get it going. We've only been live for around 2 weeks and we're adding more exclusive deals every week. At the moment we're just looking to generate a user base of the valuable free content on offer.

        • @Enjoyin: How many exclusive deals do you have atm? And by exclusive it can only be accessed by showing the app?

        • @GameChanger: At the moment we have 22, mainly centered around the Vic Park area, but as mentioned, we're adding new deals every week. We're trying to focus on one area at a time and go from there. Exclusive yes, only available to those on the app, and only redeemable once.

        • @Enjoyin: Once a day or once off completely?

        • @GameChanger: Once during a time period set by the restaurant, mostly once every 6 months or a year. By giving access to these promotions at such a cheap price ($2/month), we're looking to embrace a philosophy that if you redeem just one promotion during this one month time frame, you've already saved more than the $2 that you paid to subscribe.

Well the Entertainment Book does has an App.

But the app really sucks. It's slow and crashes a lot.
Enough to the point where I've gone back to the bulky book.

        • That's right, they do have an app, but as you've said, it's not very reliable. We're looking to take a similar concept but make it more modern and flexible for the restaurant.

let the restaurants chop and change their promotions on the fly

So does that mean I could plan to use their promo (eg. say BOGOF) for the weekend, but there's a chance that before Saturday night or before I pay, they could change the promo to 5% off?

Is there any sort of 'guarantee' of the deal being available when I plan to use it?

I find the Entertainment book app works fine on my N4, it uses gps to locate and show offers around my area.

        • We're still in the process of fine tuning this aspect, but we've considered that the app is going to be mostly used as a convenience, on the spot kind of thing, rather than pre-planned. However, understandably people will want to make plans for the weekend or whatever. We're looking into things to solve this, maybe putting a 24 hour notice of promotion removal or something similar.

        • @Enjoyin: Maybe you could try something akin to the Subway app, where you 'redeem' the voucher and have, say, a week to use it. Won't solve Ughhh's issue completely but at lease people won't be left in the cold.

  • Or even shopdocket
