Replacement Charger for Oral B Toothbrush?

Hey,

Finding it surprisingly difficult to find a replacement charger after my charger failed (used it with a car inverter, not sure if coincidence or not…)

All the ones on eBay say "Not suitable for AU" even though they have an AU plug in the picture and the voltage seems correct (220-240v, allot of the other ones are 110-130v).

Found this one but it is $35 before shipping - http://www.shaverfoilshop.com.au/shop/trickle-charger--217

Help?

Thanks!

Why brother? just buy another tooth brush when it is on sale for $25.

    • Do you mean buy another toothbrush just for the charger?

I have the Triumph 5000, going to be more then $25…

the chargers are common to many models (see the page you linked). possibly you can pick up a vitality on special at woolworths/coles and just use the charger.

        • I second this! The vitality toothbrushes are half price every other month

    • Also need a charger so I can keep using my toothbrush, don't really want to be waiting around :-)

can you do a warranty claim on this?

if you have no received just send it back to woolworths /coles for no receipt?

or you can buy a new one and claim the charger is not working.

        • The site is called Ozbargain, not Ozfraud.

  • Perhaps get an equivalent adapter off of another broken item.
Match the voltage and amperage within at least 10%(over not under), and then use a multimeter, and solder and tape the toothbrush plug onto the new adapter wire.
I've done this kind of thing 100's of times.
The busted adapter will have the input, output voltages and dc amperage rating on 99.9% of them.

Can get millions of them from any council kerb whitegoods throwouts, op shops, swapmeets for a dollar or less.

Now wasn't that boring, unwanted advice? Lol

Just want to add that most chargers are plain power supplies at a slightly higher voltage. They are usually the same thing.
Then there are intelligent chargers, such as those that are computerised, have multistage output, and switch themselves off when charging is complete. In this case you can still use a correct-spec dumb transformer/adapter to charge/run most items.

These chargers do not have external AC-DC adapters. In fact, I'm reasonably sure they never go to DC in the first place. The part that breaks is typically inside the (sealed shut) little charger body and would be difficult to replace.

It's an induction wireless charger, not your typical plug-in DC adapter with barrel or USB connector.

  • I have an extra one brand new. AU original charger from the Pro series (Type: 3757, made in Germany). PM me if interested.

    • I'm interested. I don't think you have PM enabled though?

  • If you think the Vitality ones will work for you, I have a bunch new/spare (can get the details when I get home). I can send one over if you pay for just the postage from Sydney (Auspost, Officeworks, w/e). But you might be better off just buying one of the Vitality packs cheap as others have suggested - then you have a spare (cheap) handle too.

    • Thanks, might take you up on that if rapsfan1's offer falls through.

      • Mine is also type 3757, made in China, CS9138N, 0.9 W.

Sydney 2000 to Perth 6000. Auspost $8.25 small satchel (5-6 days), NBD express $10.55, Officeworks $11. Let me know if you want it.

        • Thanks for the offer! rapsfan1 got me covered so I think I'm good. You're awesome too though. Really.

  • Just talked with the Oral B customer support, getting a new charger through them is $49.95!!!! The rip off just makes me shudder uncontrollably.

  • Cheers LoveBargain15 - I left a charger for an Oral B ProCare 1000 overseas and just replaced it by buying a Vitality on special at the Shaver Shop for $22.49, reduced from $49.00. The chargers are the same. A replacement charger at the Shaver Shop is $29.50, so I have a spare brush and two heads as well for -$7.00. Bargain!
