    nice one mate!

    Has anyone tried these before?

    • yes, they are not bad at all.

buy a box of 12 eggs for $1.50 at Coles/Woolies and it's pretty much zero carbs and lots of protein, cheaper and better than eating this garbage

…and a raw egg travels well in the gym bag and tastes great too. Agreed these aren't exactly a whole natural food though.

I am a triathlete and I have dabbled into body building once in my life and I used to buy these bars and powders etc..

But if you willing to make time to workout and travel to do the exercise surely you have a few moments to make a great protein/carb solid snack for pre and post?

These bars in my view are basically a snickers bar with protein powder added to it..

I am no expert just curious…

        • nope, between work, kids, and posting worthless comments on OZB i am really stretched for time.

    • Yep, raw egg goes well also in the rear pocket of the cycle jersey for a snack during a ride. Raw eggs are easy to reach back, get out, crack open and eat whilst cycling!

      • cant you boil it first? ;)

        • +2

Definitely could….if you were prepared to put any preparation time into your pre-ride planning. In terms of the pre-ride prep, making sure the garmin is charged takes priority 1, making sure the lights are charged takes pri 2, spending an eternity working out which arm/leg warmers, HR monitor strap, Gilet, jersey, skullcap, shoe covers, long or short finger gloves, bibshorts/tights and jersey takes pri 3, making sure tyres are at the right pressure takes pri 4, making sure water bottles are full takes pri 5, making sure I have my phone, house keys, money for a coffee, a credit card and my drivers licence in my pocket takes pri 6 ….. at about this time I am running late to make the meetup point for the ride, boiling an egg for a mid-ride snack is well and truly off the agenda. I might be able to grab a protein bar on the way out the door.

If i was better organised, possibly!

        • @2ndeffort: wow I'm clearly not a bike rider (as per my username)…I thought you would just grab your keys/wallet and jump on a bike and off u go…obviously not…. :)

Just FYI one egg has about 0.6 grams of carbs.

Musashi? Its Quest bars or nothing.

    • I agree. Just make sure you buy them fresh directly for the best taste.

    • Yeah, but quest are more than double the price and much less protein per bar.

      I think i'll go Musashi!!!

I think it really depends on how well you deal with Malitol.

I find my stomach doesn't like it and this only gets worse the more I have. Quite a common issue.

        • Fair enough, no doubt that is a more important issue than price of course.

        • yeh i discovered i have a problem with toomuch malitol shortly after i discovered how tasty these things can be…..

    Thanks OP,

They are selling for $4 at CWH. Got myself some and mine come to $1.62 per bar.

Great as a treat with added bonus of some protein.
