When I drive my Toyota Corolla and have groceries or a bag and just as I'm ready to drive off by myself only, I usually place the groceries or bag on the passenger seat (next to driver), this is when there is a Passenger Seatbelt warning signal that goes off, even though it's not a person, i.e. Human being sitting as a Passenger next to me, because it's a 'smart' car LOL signal telling passengers to buckle up. Wondering if there is a way to turn this warning signal off? is it even possible? because it's really annoying me especially when I start to drive and it keeps on going off. My car is a Toyota Corolla Ascent 2008 model.
Disabling Passenger Seatbelt Warning Signal in Toyota Corolla
Comments
Get a buckle from wreckers, plug in. That way seat belt isnt being pita.
Not sure why the two above have been negged - both are "ways to turn this warning signal off". And much more reversible ways than other technical solutions
Negs now gone - ignore my comment above
Is it a noise or light?
I suspect it would be a noise and a light…
OP, have you considered looking in your owners handbook?
alternatively, google? https://www.google.com.au/#q=disable+seatbelt+warning+2008+t…Don't put stuff on the seat
Place your shopping in the passenger foot-well instead.. no warning switches there to trigger and in an accident, nothing will fly through the windscreen (frontal impact) or on to you (side impact).
Toyota servicing can do this or buy a techstream cable to access your cars settings.
Where you a cheap techstream cable from?
Ebay - wouldn't trust it with more advanced settings but seat belts, etc are fine.
I just drove my new Corolla with a heavy stack of books on the pax seat, and no problem. Warnings all ceased as soon as I put my own seat belt on. And so you might want to consider getting Toyota to fix your problem.
talking about placing items on seats, how come the train annoucement says, Please do not place your bags on the seats"?? I don't see whats wrong with that. Is it because other people see you are kind of 'reserving' a seat or just don't want anyone sitting next to you? LOL
Get an older car with no warnings whatsoever.
Simply buckle up the empty seat
