I'm at work and was able to connect via our HTTP proxy. (i used a VM so i didn't need to install the client on my work machine)

myself and a few others have confirmed this works.
1. download "Download distro AN VPN tool" and install
2. run program and click "openVPN" to install openVPN (set proxies if required)
3. select a UK server
4. press connect.

  1. remove proxies from your IE if you have them.
  2. go on over to steam and buy L4D2 just make sure it doesn't say anything about the "low violence" change your address to Great Brittan and pay.

works a charm.

    Try hotspot shield for a proxy replacement.
    And while I haven't tried the uncensoring patch personally, I have heard it really destroys the game. And also heard that achievements are disabled.
    I've tried making a US paypal and putting money into it but steam requires your paypal account to have a verified credit card.
    So to all those people who still want the uncensored but don't want the extra 3 copies, just buy it first then distribute it to others later. They don't disappear.
    The credit card method works for sure.

    Great, UK proxy with anonymitynetwork worked like a charm. No luck with just using the UK store normally with the CC, but with the proxy, no problem with the exact same info being inputted.

      I did this successfully at 6pm Thursday using my normal street address but state W12, postcode 7TQ, country UK.

      Loaded it up at 9pm and it was full-gore (axe rules!).

      Checked my email this morning and at 11:30pm Steam sent a credit card declined email. St. George Visa Debit.

      I'm at work at the moment and can't check to see what will happen with my L4D2 install.

        would be awesome if you got it for free, but its highly likely that this is the one you got before you changed your address…

        either that or someone else was nice enough to buy it for you.

        check your credit card statement (or on line) i bet the money is gone.

    LOVE THIS GAME! got a questions thats been asked already but i want to see if any has actually tried after they bought it recently or during this sale.
    QUESTION: Im getting the UK version,is there any problems or negative effects for using in AUS, such as connecting to LOCAL AUS server. Will it still connect/work with local players on AUS or other versions?

    Cause i use to play CS source and other games and i noticed it was higher ping latency when ppl play with different versions, even though we were like neighbour suburbs
