Does OZB Make You Penny Wise but Pound Foolish?

Sometimes I'm worried that I might not be as effective wasting time scanning OZB and executing on the deals. I'm starting to be more contented if I don't get the best deal - for example, if I'm there, and the price is okay, then I'll buy it and I'll try to batch up my purchases. However, I contrast this with say just buying online and getting it delivered instead of doing all the research, price matching, going in store, and the time it would save me. Also, I've reduced my time scanning OZB mainly to a specific needs basis, especially now that I have most of what I need to the next many years and the goods that I buy tend to not wear out much.

Other considerations include I have a high opportunity cost of my time, however, offsetting this is the satisfaction of getting a really good deal.

So, does OZB make you penny wise but pound foolish, and are you doing anything about it??

  • Imo.."scanning" OzBargain has become an obsession and I am starting to show OCD tendencies. That little green flashing light saying "there's a new deal, quick have a look"

To me it is like window shopping. Dive in have a look around and then make sure I walk away before I'm tempted to purchase stuff I don't need. Some of the comments are so funny they are more worth reading than the special.

    • Especially on the condum deal..

      • yeah, when they had a deal for 144 condoms I told them I thought it was "gross". Somebody absolutely hammered me on that because they didn't get the joke.
