haven't played Helldivers yet (it's on my wishlist), so I can't really say.
it is like helldivers in the sense of being a twin stick shooter…but from what i gather, Helldivers has a lot more depth.
Xenowerk is mostly about chaining combos in order to get full stars on each level. aside from that, it's just mindless shooting and blowing stuff up!

Wait, what? It is? I've been struggling to find more games for my shield tv, and I picked up Xenowerk for my mobile in the recent 20c offer. I didn't know it would work on the shield and I didn't think to try it. Thanks for the heads up!
Openarena getting the most play for me atm. It's a great kodi box anyway (kodi 16 just released btw - supports long press on shield remote)
On the plus side, you can progress through this easily without IAP.
On the down side, it's fairly bland. Ok as a time-waster, not as a fun-haver.
It turns my s6 edge into a mini heater. Will play in winter.

Same as the above comment, fun if limited shooter,played this on the Nexus player with a game pad - couldn't imagine trying to play this on a smart phone or tablet.
Not sure if they've fixed it, but when the watch-ads-for-credits first came out, once you'd reached 1000 points per view (they increase the more you watch), the videos didn't show but the credits were grated, which led to a frenzy of button mashing resulting in a million credits !
Sometimes the IAPs don't clear, they take the money but you don't get the in game credits.
Developer responded within a week, and as it was Telstra credit, it even got refunded onto my Telstra account !
Lasers will clear much further than line of sight, allowing you clear a large room quickly. Just make sure to improve the cooling rate.
Flame throwers are good for the quick and fast mobs that will forget about attacking you and go die in a small incendiary pile.
Like lasers they need extra coolant to be effective for more than a couple of seconds, though firing in short bursts is effective in clearing low end mobs.
Grenade launchers have a fantastic damage output and good for canvassing a close area in high damage love.

Bought it last time on 20cents, in my opinion best paired with a Bluetooth controller to play with.
Goal is to keep multiplier going by constantly killing (with a BT controller you can constantly pause to map out a route; also has other bland objectives, not much enemy variety either, hardest difficulty has most variety of enemies + added room lockout event), using the suit powerups manage health, speed, freeze powerup, gun heat level (think early freezing powerup will reset it, later heatsink upgrade keeps it zero entire powerup duration) and 2x dmg eventually. I used one of the thumper series launchers as a main weapon (AOE nade launcher though the last thumper nuke is an actual nuke with self dmg and a long timer which is bad).
Very Grindy. IAP is for credits which you can grind, though best way to earn credits is to do something else while spamming video ads (introduced last update). After a while I got only 500 credits instead of the initial 1000 credits per view.
grabbed it too at the 20c price… would be a great game with some variety… all the labs are near identical in layout … the brain things are the only thing that always seem to get you even if your run out of the way of the flames…. maybe just me.

If your device support it, that is (there are few devices that has OTG but do not support xbox controller, like my tablet, for example).

Worth picking up for a bit of mindless twin stick action. Nice assortment of guns, but levels and enemies a bit limited. Definitely worth it for free tho!
Also, if you're concerned about IAP, the in-app purchases are just for extra in-game cash for buying new weapons - not really necessary, as you earn a decent amount by just playing. If you want to purchase ALL the weapons so you can try out each one, then that will cost you a bit of in-game cash and you might need to do a little grinding (or watch ads in the game, which also give you in-game cash), but otherwise, you earn enough money by just playing.
